Fifteen years ago I interned at Northwestern Mutual Life and after passing my exams and being licensed in L/A/H/D/LTC, I had numerous insurance agencies solicit me to become an agent at their company. That led me to believe that there was some “list” being sold or marketed to these companies of newly licensed individuals.

In everyone’s experience, have you noticed the same out of the accounting industry? After passing, or after being licensed, did you suddenly have recruiters calling or emailing you with no prompting on your part?

I am really just curious what to expect in the near future. BTW, I am in Indiana if that factors into it.

I actually have been contacted by recruiters for new positions elsewhere via Linkedin.. So I do not see this being unsual. Most companies are willing to pay higher since you have more experience so I would say its the same in the accounting industry. Especially if you go to Public Accounting, I am sure after 2-5 years, you will be getting multiple offers from recruiting agencies. I have about 2 years of Oil & Gas accounting experience and other companies have contacted me.

i got called by a bunch of ins/financial advisor (aka sales) jobs right out of college. Had a buddy who took a job and those companies (expect maybe edward jones) basically take anyone that will come and then wait to see who is any good. its almost entirely commission so little risk for the company
