    Hello all,

I am taking BEC on April 7th, a little under two weeks left and am working my way through all the MCQ again. I have been doing progress tests to see where i really need to focus my studies after i complete all chapters MCQ, but am curious how everyone feels on taking the Final exams from Becker? Is it worth it? Or should i just focus on redoing MCQ that I am not doing so well on during the progress tests. I have heard the Final Exams can be overwhelming and give you a false appearance that you are doing worse than you actually are. Would love everyone’s view on this.

    Thanks

I probably took 2 and half months for FAR, probably like 20 hours week. I took a vacation while studying to Mexico and did not study that entire week lol. The amount of material in FAR is crazy, but it can be defeated.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

Don't relax on the fact that you work in financial reporting. FAR is hard! It covers things that you most likely will never see on an everyday basis at work.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

Ok. I have planned about 7 weeks, but am taking the live course with Becker. So realistically with the classes included ill be doing about 22-24 hrs a week, est about 170 hrs total. Scheduled test for May 28th. I was contemplating pushing back till July, but think thats too much time and i will forget alot by then. Worse comes to worst i push the exam back the week before because I'm not ready and study like crazy in June. But hopefully everything comes easy for FAR, which I know it won't. Alot of BEC came back to me after taking the classes, as I only graduated 2 1/2 yrs ago. And went to grad school while working for those 2 years.

Are the live classes needed? I've never used Becker, I got Wiley instead and just read the book. You may be doing the live classes and you might not need it, so it could be a waste of extra time. But is that how Becker's program is structured?

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

Becker has all methods self-study/online/live, however I like the live because it forces me to do the lectures, I am not the person that can come home after working 9-10 hrs a day and sit in front of a screen and watch the lecture for 4 hours. The class is a little overwhelming as it is two 4 hr lectures a week, but it forces me to move through the material. I have watched parts of lectures on my own and after like 2 hrs, I'm burnt out and can't do anymore.

@mratner, I see that you are taking FAR on May 28; I'm taking FAR on May 30 and also am taking an exam on April 7, but mine is REG. Looks like our exams schedules are very similar! I'm kinda freaking out about only 7 weeks with FAR, but I think it's still doable.

    BEC - 78 (8/30/13)
    REG - 73 (1/31/14) - 76 (4/7/14)
    ***GETTING MARRIED 7/19/14***
    FAR - after the wedding
AUD - also after the wedding

@Tasia Lets stay connected through FAR. Never know when one can help the other. Good luck on your REG exam on 4/7. Hopefully well both have passing grades for both tests. BEC is my first test on 4/7, so a little anxious as this will be my first CPA exam, but seem to be on track for that. Then onto FAR beast.

Sounds good! Study tips and techniques always help, so I'd definitely like to stay connected during that time frame! BEC was my first exam too, and I was fresh out of college so I think that helped with remembering some information from all of my business courses, etc. If you're doing well on the MCQs, you will do great. A lot of people take BEC first, so I think it's a good one to get out of the way. Good luck!
