CPA Senioritis?

I’m wondering if anyone else has or is experiencing something similar to senioritis as they prepare for their last section. I’m going through a severe case of this at the moment and I’m trying desperately to snap out of it so I don’t fail REG next week. I know I just need to buckle down for 2 more weeks and then I can relax a bit, but inside of me lives a 5 year old brat that screams “I DON’T WANNA!!!!” when I tell myself I need to hit the books.

Is anyone else struggling with this or do any of you have advice to pacify this child in me? I tried ice cream last night, but it only worked for the 5 minutes I was eating it…

I had it during my last exam (Reg) and then in ethics. I couldn't focus, I goofed off, I smoked a lot more bud. My advice: keep your eye on the prize. Try to eliminate distractions. And if you can't, then indulge, but make sure you get your work in so you don't have to go through it again.

kasiaS – You got this!!!!! This is your last one. Dig down deep and find that extra boost that you need. Just think afer this exam, you can burn all those CPA books or you can just put them on your shelf to remember them by.. lol. but serious, you got this. You have done so well in all the others. I have no doubt that you will pass this one as well with no problems.

I felt this way in the beginning of studying for FAR, but the more you put into it the more you realize how close you really are and you'll never truly be finished until you get past this last one.

Kasia, I totally get your feeling. It seems that it is your last one and you should have all motivation in the world, especially after passing three. But it is all the way around, we are just burned out and we are so close that we just want out..Sometimes taking a short break for something fun can do wonders, or just think this is my last one I will do whatever it takes to pass it..

    You will do great!!

Its just brutal…..the worst! Hang in there, I'm STILL dealing with it, have 3 weeks left of my last masters class and really REALLY stopped caring about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks all! I'm doing everything in my power to get over this. Today I took a 20 minute nap after work and that seems to have helped in giving me the energy boost I needed to hit the books. I'm still forcing myself to keep going back but I keep saying that in 10th days I'll make up for the misery.

I was so sure that I'd be 3x as motivated to attack REG full force because of my performance on the first 3 sections. At least its good to know I'm not the only one with serious motivational issues.

    @KasiaS

    I know how you feel…

I go through cycles of serious studying and of having no patience for this anymore. Sometimes I eat as I read just to get me through the pages…Once I finish eating that sandwich, bowl of cereal, etc. though, it's usually “what now?” to get me through the rest of the pages…

But it can be done!! One way I get myself through this is by thinking that in one month from now I do NOT want to have to be studying this all again because I did not put in the effort now. We have to give this all we can.

    Good luck (to everyone)!

I right there with everyone on the Senioritis. I only have BEC left. It is horrible when I get home after work to pull open the books and start studying again. I hate it. But then I look up and see the $20 bill i posted above my desk (Olinto told us to do $100, but I'm cheap), and that gives me motivation…or I guess 1/5 motivation.

Really trying to get by on the bare minimum now, how that doesn't haunt me on 11/30. Just glad I have till 10/05/2012 to pass this thing.

Ha. This is great. I am in the same situtation, I have REG on Wed of next week and I am nowhere near ready. Saving REG for last was a mistake.

    BEC - 81

@wishingiwasfishing, I feel the same way. I took FAR first because I was told it's the hardest and should be tackled first… now I'm wishing that I had taken REG first because it is by far the more annoying one to study for.

@kasia – just be glad you're knocking this thing out within 6 months! You're doing awesome 🙂 So jealous that I didn't pull it off within 18 months!

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!

If I get good news next week, then I'm studying my last one right now. But I don't really think it matters which test you're on. We all get burnt out. It's busy season at work, and I'm studying REG. I'm tired, cranky, and have eaten my weight in Ritz crackers over the past month. (Ritz because they are versatile and don't require cooking, which I don't have time for).

    AUD: 92 (10/2011)
    BEC: 82 (7/2011)
    FAR: 55 (8/2010); 88 (8/2011)
    REG: 62 (8/2009); 87 (1/7/12)
    DONE!

@veronica, believe me, I'm grateful to have been passing these as I have and I greatly admire those people who keep getting back on the horse. It takes a very determined person to keep at it!

I'm taking Acct's approach and I keep telling myself that I sure as heck do not want to be studying this mess again next month! I may paste a $100 bill above my desk for that extra boost thanks to heatmaster. 🙂
