I don’t do well with self study. I am looking for one, if there is one that exists, that is set up just like a regular college class would be. Where you have assignments each week, you are given feedback, have exams, etc.

Suggestions?

Becker offers live classes if that is what you need.

I don't know how it is now, but 3 or 4 years ago I was talking to a co-worker who did Becker live course and said it was pretty much a person there playing the same self study video.

I'm doing the self-study so I cant say from experience BUT the self-study has been great. The lecture videos are very professionally done and organized and not draining at all (to me). Then theres always the another71 community to follow up with any questions or confusion.

I'm similar. Normally I do much better in a live classroom setting than I do in self study. The CPA exam was an exception though.

I used Becker for all 4 parts and I started with FAR doing live sessions. I wasn't working at the time so it fit my schedule. But what I found was that it turned out to be 4 hours of the Becker Lecturer “throwing” accounting at us for 4 hours straight. Around the 2 to 3 hour mark I'd get so burnt out that I couldn't even remember the rest. Then we hit the Government Accounting chapters. They made zero sense to me so over the weekend I sat down and watched the self-study lectures. The self study lectures by Mr. Tim Gearty were, almost, word for word the exact same lectures from the live class. They used the same examples and even some of the same stories. Once I realized this, I stopped going to Live Lectures.

What I found was that the sef study was best for me for the exam. I could do it on my own time and go at my own pace. I found that doing a topic or two of lectures (or an hour or two usually) worked well for me. During the live lectures, nobody was really asking questions because by 9pm at night, everyone is too fried ot be thinking of accounting.
