Well I just got a letter from my Texas State Board of Public Accountancy stating that I’m 6 hours short to sit for exam.

But one of my old co-workers is taking it through Colorado and has told me the requirements are less.

I went to the Colorado Board of Accountancy website but it’s so confusing.

I guess does anyone know what I actually need for Colorado and where to send my documentations.

Thanks for the link, but I already looked at that and I'm still confused

Is there anyone that had taken the exam through CO and lived in another state?

    @ pinaycpa

I'm sure I met all the requirements but Im not sure where to send the documents too.

So have you read about CPA Reciprocity: Current Status

The following are considered NOT Substantially Equivalent States

    Colorado

    Puerto Rico

    Virgin Islands

And the only reason why I want to take it through CO – is because I dont want to wait another 6 months to finish my master and then take it through TX.

I applied online for Colorado and mailed my documents to:

    Mailing Address

    CPA Examination Services

    Colorado Coordinator

    PO Box 198469

    Nashville, TN 37219-8469

I filled out the eligibility and the attestation forms for Colorado and mailed it. My plan is to take and pass the exam under Colorado and then fill my 10 hours requirements for Utah and eventually transfer my score. I don't know if it is possible, I have not made any research yet. Another option is to get my license in Colorado since I am eligible for my working experience and education requirements. For now, my focus is to pass the exam and get this done.

Haha, I wondered how many people did this. I'm from Oklahoma sitting under Colorado jurisdiction with the intent to move it all to Texas once I graduate with 150 hours next week.

I just want to say thank you to Colorado for letting me get this done faster.

    @2/15 n/30

When you saying moving all to TX – what steps or documents do we have to fill out?

And what is the big difference, I thought taking the CPA is the same no matter what state.

If you decide to apply in Colorado to start your CPA journey while you finish up school (which seems to be popular), you will need to transfer your scores, regardless of whether you passed or failed, to Texas or any other jurisdiction you choose to practice in.

    https://www.wallcertificateservice.com/index.php?main_page=product_free_shipping_info&cPath=248&products_id=1097

That's the website for transferring scores.

Also, you will need to meet all the academic requirements in the jurisdiction you plan to practice in. For example, Colorado doesn't require an ethics course and Texas does; also, Colorado requires that you have 3 hours in an auditing course that specifically mentions GAAP in the course description and Texas only requires 3 hours in an Audit course period.

After some quick reading, it looks like you will have to prove that you meet all these requirements. In other words, the process will probably be similar to your first application for the Colorado jurisdiction.

I'm deciding to go through CO b/c I only have electives left in my master's program.

I just want to get a jump start on the CPA exam and get it over with.

I will have all the requirements met for TX once I finish my master program.

It looks like transferring the scores shouldnt be so bad.So I will start my CPA prep class in JULY 2012

    Thanks for your help @ 2/15 n/30

Well I did some research and this is what I came up with:

I would'nt be able to transfer my scores to Texas but fill out an application for reciprocal

    https://www.tsbpa.state.tx.us/forms/reciprocal-application.html

I would have to meet all of Texas requirements at the time of applying for this applciation.
