I just wanted to share a mistake or two that I made during the entire CPA exam process, so maybe others can avoid making the same mistakes 🙂 feel free to post any blunders you have made as well.
My current job reimburses the exam registration fee for the first time you take it. When I registered, I signed up for all 4 sections. I noticed that on the Wisconsin NASBA website, they advised not to schedule exams you are not planning to take over 6 months from the current date. And, well, I didn’t take that statement as an absolute requirement.
When I received my NTS, I realized that I was only going to be able to fit three of four exams in by the time my NTS expired (or so I thought). I tried calling NASBA, Prometric, etc. to see if anything else could be done, but it was no use. And then, to put it simply, I crashed in the middle of my first busy season when trying to study at the same time. So, my studying was delayed for a few months. In the end, I paid registration for 3 sections on my own.
So in summary, my advice for future candidates is to take any “advisements” from NASBA as literally as possible, and be cautious about extensive studying at the same time you begin learning a new job.
