Hey everyone, new guy to the forum looking for some advice. I have a grad school course that ends on 6/9 and I was going to start studying a week after that is over. I was thinking about taking BEC and AUD during the summer before my next class begins the week following labor day. Based on my time scheduling, I know this can absolutely be done without an issue as I’ll have 5-6 weeks almost to study for each. I know these are the two easiest ones but I feel like it would be best to get two out of the way rather than studying 6-8 weeks for one of the other parts and only having one done.

I’ll start my next and final class (non accounting) for grad school that labor day week and it will be a one day a week class (6:30-9) with probably about 2-3 hours of outside homework each week. Approximately 5 hours a week will be taken up by this course. My question is for the CPA during this time. Is it something that would be overly stressful if I was to attempt to study for one of the remaining parts during this time? I wouldn’t be able to devote as much time to it, but could extend the number of weeks I’d spend studying for it based on the “hours needed”. If i could do that, it would be awesome, and I’d only (hopefully) have one part left to finish in the spring. Has anyone tried this before? What were the results?

Yes, I did the entire CPA while in Grad school. I won't lie and say it was easy but it can be done.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention in the post I'm doing grad school part time and working full time. Hoping to fit all of this into my schedule and basically give up on my summer and fall entertainment.

LOL, I worked full time, took one grad class, have 2 kids, was a girl scout leader, worked 2 days a week at Kohls from Oct-Dec. Its perfectly manageable.

You sound like you are “study mode” and focused, that is a definite advantage.

I would caution against feeling too confident, these “little exams” are trickier than you may expect. I attempted a similar goal in my last semester. Things get busy, fall is recruiting season and I was involved in the accounting fraternity as well. Before you know it Thanksgiving is approaching and . .. .

Goals are great, but you don't have to make any decisions now about fall semester. I suggest you take the first two exams and see how you feel. You will know at the end of the summer whether you are ready to study for another.

I worked full time, 2 grad classes on all semesters, married, all while studying for the CPA exam. It can be done but you have to sacrifice your social life to accomplish it.

    FAR 88 - BEC 86 - AUD 90 - REG 85

You just have to plan everything and try not to miss a study session. I tend to do homework in the mornings only and CPA review at night and on weekends.
