Hi everyone, I’m new here. Working full-time at small-sized firm, I decided to go for my license late last year. So far I’ve only studied FAR through Roger CPA, and failed with a 72. I’m of course disappointed in the results, but it is what it is and I need to step on my game to get it off my plate in Q2.

Besides Roger CPA, what other study materials do you guys use? Obviously people at Roger CPA encourage me to buy the cram material to add a handful of points to my score, but that would cost around a grand. Besides Ninja MCQ’s, what do other material do you guys suggest?

I've heard Roger isn't really good for FAR, (prob not that great for REG either). I liked the Ninja book just because it was nice to read information in a different way and it was better than Roger's book and the samples I saw of the other books are just excessively wordy. Roger cuts pretty much out all the fat but he at least keeps it engaging. His Sims for REG are the worst though.

I have friends that have used Wiley and Becker and some of them like it and some of them don't. But If you get Wiley or Becker you have almost everything you need for the exam (in fact too much there a bit of overkill- that being said I don't think SIMS for any of the review courses are comparable but they have more, so there is a chance to get what you need). You might want to consider just getting a trial or sample of different material and see which one you like best. There are also cheaper options and you can wait until one has a sale (I did that for Rog…but then I didn't use the materials until A LOT later)

if you don't utilize it then it isn't worth it and considering how much of a doozy FAR/REG can be, I wouldn't want too much material, I'd rather know my stuff well than try and remember every little random detail of the tax law cuz it feels like overload for me..That and it would take forever for me to study for as well to retain. If you don't like video lectures at all anyway then I think their books are all right though.

But you need to find what's best for you personally regarding price range, usability, etc.
