Just bought the Wiley CPA Review Book (Volume 1 & 2) and passed the exam that way? without any lectures.

I’ve been reading a lot on this forum, and many have said Becker just gives out all these mnemonics, and it kind of distorts the learning since you’re kind of just memorizing the mnemonics and not exactly knowing the material. Maybe it works for some people, but I’ve been failing, so maybe I need to change..

Also, Listening from the samples of the Ninja Audio..I kind of like it… Was considering getting the Ninja Audio.. U think this combo would be good? Just Wiley Text book/ MCQ and the Ninja Audio.. that’s it… Think I’m to the point I don’t want to watch Tim Gearty, or Peter Olinto lecture anymore.. I just want to study exactly what the exam tests.. so I would do MCQ, and if I miss it, I would go to the Wiley text (yes, it’s like a dictionary I heard)… and then just read and read it over until I understand..

    Any opinions?

    BEC: 69, 57, 72, 73, (anticipated for 4/4/2015)
    AUD: 65, 63, 74, 84!!! (expires 7/31/2015)
    FAR: 63, 57, (scheduled for 4/1/2015)
REG: ... 42, (Anticipated to be around 5/20~)

A friend from college used the Wiley books and scored in the low 90s. But she studied accounting in England and again in the US.

    BA Mathematics, UC Berkeley
Certificates in CPA and EA preparation, College of San Mateo
    CMA I 420, II 470
    FAR 91, AUD Feb 2015 (Gleim self-study)

I used the Wiley textbook for one of my AUD retakes…it was long, boring, and not helpful at all…actually scored worse πŸ™

    3XBEC:75 * 4XREG:82 * 4XFAR:76 * 7XAUD:77

Use Becker Books, Skip Lectures except for on difficult topics, and use both Becker and Wiley multiple choice test banks.

I wouldn't scrap the whole program because Becker lectures such. Just spend the time you would of used for watching extra videos as time trying to understand the Becker books.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I only used Wiley and ninja notes. But I read the entire Wiley book. I wouldn't recommend only looking up the MCQ that you get wrong though. It's not enough to chance upon correct answers as proficiency, because a question with a very subtle difference in wording can mean an entirely different answer. Your odds of seeing the same question worded the same way are slim (but it can happen!). There truly are no shortcuts to a 75+.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

@G3 Ninja Notes.. I'm having 2nd thoughts because it seems very condensed. But for the sample Ninja Audio.. I'm kind of considering because when I listened to the AUD one, it was very close to the questions that were on the WTB. I mean, it comes in handy as I commute to work, and While working I can listen to it… (not sure how much I can retain though by multitasking this…)..

@MLA1169 That's insane. How long it take you? I mean, you can only read so much before you stop retaining the material you read..

Took 2 months for each, but that was on me (as were my 3 fails, those had nothing to do with the material I used and everything to do with not giving myself enough time.) if I had waited until I finished my masters and not spread myself so thin it would have gone a lot faster!
