Rocky123MemberHow do you keep your confidence and focus when someone tells you that you can’t pass?

SkynetParticipantI always said this before and will say this again. When you have your CPA license and start moving on to better things because having the CPA license happens to open up doors and opportunities while they continue to be miserable in their dead end jobs, you'll be the one having the last laugh.

Future NinjaParticipant@Rocky123 – someone's opinion of you doesn't have to become your reality unless you allow it. you're unique and special. it's a great feeling of doing something they think you can't do it. They think you are a fool but don't mind them. the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. Keep on keeping on. You are doing it for yourself not for anyone else. When you're at the top share your blessing to prove they are wrong. In their Face!

Future NinjaParticipantfollow Peter Olinto's suggestion. Get a usd100 from your pocket and post it infront of your desk. That will motivate you somehow. You will have tons of usd100 compared to them in the near future. press on.

SkynetParticipantFollowing Peter Olinto suggestion is a good idea, but using a usd $100 bill with a color printer will get you lots of $100 bills faster.

Rocky123MemberI did manage to get some studying done last night.
I'm almost done. Last section (and no doubt the hardest one). A few more weeks of this and I will be done. Need to stay focused.

AmayMemberYou just can't take comments like that personally, because it is not your problem, it is theirs. That person has their own issues to deal with and are just projecting it on you (insecurities, envy, anger, intimidation by your awesomeness?). As long as you know you can pass, nothing anyone says can stop you!
On my last section too and this needs to be it! We got this! 🙂

REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

rbozungMemberJust a tip, but I wouldn't do anything, especially such an undertaking as the CPA, to prove someone else wrong. It is about knowing not to take what others think personally and doing your best. When you get frustrated, switch your materials (read note cards instead of doing questions or write out material), add calming music (always without words) that you like, take 10 minute breaks. I am a firm believer that passing this exam is heavily reliant upon your confidence and the way that you choose to look at obstacles along the way. For example, when you get a ton of questions wrong, instead of thinking “oh no, I can't do anything right, I don't know anything, how can I pass!?” Look at it as, “hey, at least I was exposed to these concepts before the exam where I can learn from my mistakes”. That is another thing, spend the time reviewing your mistakes! Know why you got them wrong and also read the notes for the answers that you got right because many times, they explain concepts that you don't have nailed down and will help you in other areas.
You will do fine. Perhaps find yourself a little place away from whomever is outwardly telling you that you cannot pass. He/she is battling his/her own drama and their attitude has nothing to do with you or how you perform.

Rocky123MemberI have ceased communication with this person but their past comments are still stuck in my head.
This material is hard. Especially the amout that we are expected to know (FAR). They have many areas to draw questions from and you have to know everything just in case.
I keep telling myself that I can't be that stupid if I passed 3 sections. But there is a reason FAR is nicknamed “the beast.” It truly is. There are no light reading, easy chapters in this section. All of it is brutal.
I feel like it's taking me so long to go over everything. It's very frustrating and I feel stupid.
