I have company coming to stay for the next 2 nights, I have already setup my laptop and study materials in my bedroom and plan to feign illness and “go to bed early” tonight.

For the second night I am thinking about saying that I have to stay late at work, and pack my study materials and go to the library.

I hate to lie, but I don’t have time to hangout with friends right now.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

Stay a few hours late at work each night or go to the coffee shop to study and just say you have to work a little late all week. Then when you get home you can be done with studying and spend uninterrupted time with your company.

I agree with MrsBing, use the “held up at work” excuse and go study for an hour or two. That way, you can enjoy them later in the evening.

I feel your pain, I had an obligatory family trip to the lake this past weekend. I had to creatively slip away for small periods to study without appearing rude to random visiting family.

Eh, real in your Type A'ness and hang for a couple nights . You make it sound like people are coming to stay for the next couple weeks.

Or, tell them you have this monster exam coming up, it has a month long study schedule and if you hang out, you'll be thrown way off with the exam coming up. Toss them the TV remove and tell them you'll be back in 1.5 hours. That way, you're not a liar, you get some study in, but limit the amount so you can see your guests.
