So I’m not posting this to trash talk. I’m posting this because had I known I would have an interaction with the instructor of a review program I would not have spent $1,600 on their program. I would have liked to have known this before.

I failed FAR with a 60. Not proud or saying I did everything right. Clearly I need to find a better study method. I have e-mailed Jeff (from this site) at the end of November to ask for his advice after getting my score at 3 am (I couldn’t sleep) and I haven’t heard back. (If you see this Jeff, I REALLY value your opinion so I’m not sure if you’re busy and I don’t want to call you out but after this conversation with Cindy I’m pretty much spent)

So I saw that Cindy would call and give advice so I figured since I spent the money… why not… I told her my score and she asked if I even studied…. Ouch. That’s my biggest problem here. Yes, I studied. I watched ALL of her videos and took intensive notes. I did multiple choice questions (clearly not the right way). Like I said I never said I did everything prefect… I know I messed up somewhere. For her to add salt to the wound of a 60 fail… I’m not sure why this hurt my feelings so much but it did.. I actually cried… I don’t cry too easily… I did Jeff’s ELL plan by the way. I didn’t do as well as I should as I did slack off at time but I DID study…

Has anyone had an issue such as this? You spend all this money and when it is their one chance to help you out they just make you question whether I or you can do this? Because that’s where I feel I am at. I don’t know if this is for me… Silly right?! What all did you do? I need my support from the people who know the tests best…

    Thanks

Well I am already over 200 hours(keep in mind I have been a butcher the last 5 years) and I am afraid I wasted to much time on the concepts because I feel like a lot of the multiple choice questions are a different language. For example the lease questions are not at all explained in the Becker book.

I still have until January 7th and plan to start focusing on questions lol.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I can very much relate to this.

I had an awful series of events happen last summer during the middle of my NIU – Northern Illinois University CPA review course and I needed a little moral support and guidance. Debra Hopkins, who comes off as a god of the CPA world and has all these wonderful stories of helping students one-on-one via email, phone, etc. Well, she essentially blew me off. It's difficult to describe here, but I knew right away she was very two-faced. I'll never pay them another dime. Wiley test bank has been a lot more helpful than her program.

    FAR: 65,49,61,74,78
    AUD: 65,68,64,78
    REG: 56,77
    BEC: 75

I would say, change of review program. If that is the response you received, is not worth to continue with them.

Explore other options and go for it. In Roger I have found stupidity but they correct immediately (like making me print the 2013 changes as 2014 etc but then I call them and explain my reasons saying I”M a STUDENT and that is not nice that.. blablablabla) Minutes later something is hapening in their forum correcting the situation.

THAT is what I want to see in the review program I paid.

Usually when students say they got 60, the moderators explain how close they are for the 75 and motivates them in how to improve.

I like Roger so far, but if not, I would change it IMMEDIATELY!

I am guessing if you spent 1,600 you purchased all four parts and switching review programs would mean more money out of your pocket. I am sorry your experience with Cindy was not more pleasant. I purchased all four parts of Yaegar over other review programs because of the access to instructors…I have not had to call them yet because I was able to come up with a study method that worked for me.

I have so far experienced success using Yaeger. My plan of attack has been to watch a video (all parts for a module) and make notecards for key points. Most of the time they will point out important parts of the chapter to read and then I read those parts of the chapter and make more notecards. I then study the notecards and work all the MCQs in the chapter. Then I use WTB to answer 24-30 Questions (depending on test) on that module. When I get 75 or above on WTB I move to the next module. I save two weeks to rework all the questions I got wrong in the Wiley book and then make sure I answer every WTB question at least once. I make sure my average score in the WTB is 80 or above B4 taking the exam (and this can be difficult if you didn't do so well on some of the chapters because now you need to get sooo many more right to improve your score by 1%). For BEC I must have seen every question in WTB 2-3 times but I found myself smiling while taking the actual exam….that being said I should have practiced WC more…

    BEC: I defeated the Siren!
    AUD: I eliminated Medusa!
