During the summer and in my last semester of college (with a really light work load), I was able to pass AUD and BEC in the 80’s and 90’s on the first try. That all changed, however, when I started working at KPMG

It is not even busy season yet, but I am already very busy at work. My usual hours are 9am-10:30, but I often work later than that. I tried waking up at 430am, but I could not function after a week. I also study 30-60mins when I get home, but it is really difficult to concentrate. My only study time is the Saturday and Sunday (if I don’t have to work).

Now, I keep taking and failed REG and FAR in the 50s and 60s and I know it is because I just haven’t been studying effectively. I tried the NINJA study plan, but it doesn’t fit with my current work schedule. I tried telling my job I have to study, but that doesn’t stop the fact that I still have to work late.

My AUD expires in August and I really want to finish before that but I just don’t know how anymore!

Can anyone please help and let me know what should/could I do? I am losing hope…

@OP Your hours are terrible, I'm so sorry!!!!! Audio is your best option right now! You need it to convert time you spend commuting, eating lunch, showering, brushing your teeth, and anywhere else you can listen into STUDY time. I like Ninja audio but if you already have one with your study program than make sure you are using it!

I have a 60-90 minute drive to work and it's a tremendous help to squeeze in extra time on the study clock. I also agree that REG would be more manageable than FAR during your busy season, especially so if you are tax inclined!

Good luck and take care of yourself!!!!!!!

    REG: 75 DONE 🙂
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
    BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
    FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂

I can't imagine working that many hours! My hat is off to you! I feel like a wimp now, I am having trouble studying after working 8 hours a day, I can't imagine what you are going through. But I think there is a point in each of our lives were we decide what we really want and commit to it and will do whatever we have to to get it done.

Good luck and I really hope you like your job!

I used to study one hour in the morning, one at lunch and at night when my 5yr old was asleep. I maximized the weekend hours. Get into a system that works and keep going. Trust me this is a test that needs some dedication. Take the day off before the test day and drill down all day/ night. Thats what it took for me.

thanks guys for your help. I will return to REG and hopefully find the time to pass these last 2 sections. I really recommend that people take FAR and REG before they ever start working full time!!

I don't work the same hours you do, but with the kids it works out to be about the same for me. I wake up at 6:30 and leave the house between 7:00 and 7:15. My drive can be anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour to drop off the kids and get to work. I try to listen to Ninja audio (very helpful), but don't always get to because the kids like to chat nonstop (to me, not to each other). I usually go have lunch with my kids each day so I don't do much but listen to audio on the 10 minute drive to and from my parents house. I don't get home until 6:30 at the earliest and between dinner, baths, and bedtime I can't start studying until 9:30 or 10:00, if I have the energy to study at all. The majority of my studying (book reading, note taking, and MCQ practice occurs on the weekends (when I don't have to work or have other commitments). I can usually pull between 15-20 hours each weekend. I take 2.5 months to study for each part I've taken. I truly think you can do it just on the weekends if you cut out any extra stuff that isn't work/study. You can do this! I know it's disheartening because you've failed a couple of times, but my suggestion is to take full advantage of the weekends that you do have and use that one holiday week off to study, study, study and you could take REG and kill it in January or February. You just have to tell yourself that this is how it is and you have to make the most of it. You can't dwell on the time you don't have to study and focus on the time you do have. Make the most of those weekends! Good luck!
