During the summer and in my last semester of college (with a really light work load), I was able to pass AUD and BEC in the 80’s and 90’s on the first try. That all changed, however, when I started working at KPMG

It is not even busy season yet, but I am already very busy at work. My usual hours are 9am-10:30, but I often work later than that. I tried waking up at 430am, but I could not function after a week. I also study 30-60mins when I get home, but it is really difficult to concentrate. My only study time is the Saturday and Sunday (if I don’t have to work).

Now, I keep taking and failed REG and FAR in the 50s and 60s and I know it is because I just haven’t been studying effectively. I tried the NINJA study plan, but it doesn’t fit with my current work schedule. I tried telling my job I have to study, but that doesn’t stop the fact that I still have to work late.

My AUD expires in August and I really want to finish before that but I just don’t know how anymore!

Can anyone please help and let me know what should/could I do? I am losing hope…

What the hell you work over 12 hours every day? My suggestion is just quit it's not worth it.

I commute to work 1 hour and 30 minutes including 20 minutes of walk (3 hours per day). I usually sleep for 40 minutes during my commute process, and spend 30 minutes reading Becker Materials. Maybe it was also due to sleep deprivation that's why the quality of your study is greatly affected.

Since you've already read the material, I'd advice you to go through the test banks (Wiley, CPAreviewforfree, Becker). Write a lot of notes (concise) for those items you got mistake on and those you have a WTF moment. While commuting you could replace my study habit above with reading your notes. I used more than 50 leaves of notes for the whole CPA exam.

If you still proceeded to reading the lectures and follow my 2 months schedule of study, you should try reading until before 3 weeks of your exam date. It is not necessary if you finish the lecture notes or not. During the 3 week period, you should answer all of the review materials as much as possible per day and writing down notes. I'm averaging 100 questions a day under 2 hours, and if you are able to do that, 3 weeks is more than enough. A day before the actual exam, I study my notes, go back to questions that I think I'm still weak on or relax. On the exam day, I still go back to my notes, and if I have time, answer those I think I'm weak on. This strategy helped me a lot when I took REG.

I did not do any SIMS/WC on Becker btw when I took REG/BEC.

    FAR - 92 02/2013
    AUD - 90 05/2013
    REG - 85 10/2013
    BEC - 80 12/2013

    I'M DONE. THANK YOU LORD!

I wish I didn't save FAR and REG for last. I also wish I was lying about my hours, but yeah they are horrible. The funny thing is I really don't mind the hours (yet), it is just annoying have these tests burdening me, not to mention the August deadline until they start expiring…

you guys are definitely helpful though!! giving me some hope

Do you think I should just put of studying until March where I will HOPEFULLY leave around 7?

I get some Christmas time off where I can study from the day after christmas until the day after new years all day (1 week), but I am still not sure that is enough time to learn all of FAR or REG.

I also still don't know whether I should go back to REG (got a 67 a few months ago) or FAR (got a 52 today). If I could just get 1 more test down by March I will feel way better.

If you want to get one test down before March, I'd say go for REG. That week after Christmas, your weekends, and whatever you can squeeze in during the week might be enough time. I think FAR is just too much material on such a busy schedule (wait for March).

    REG 10/12/13 - 94
    FAR 10/17/13 - 93
    AUD 11/11/13 - 92
    BEC 11/20/13 - 87

Why don't you just bring your phone to work study there? Just do 5 MCQs every hour or something like that
