Does anyone know of any service provider/person/company where one could directly call/chat with someone for help on a question or two? Even if it is paid service? Just wondering…

The chat I used cost $14.95 for the first 10 minutes and $2.50 each additional minutes, but when I ask her accounting questions like AMT she keeps talking Dirty to me. It was really annoying.

If you use Becker you can email them. They're actually pretty helpful. I'm not sure if they have a chat feature where you can get immediate help though.

It takes a day or two to receive a reply from Becker via email.

People on here usually respond pretty quickly to questions.

I used to have a group called “Club 75” – it was a Google group and essentially it was one big reply to all via email.

Basically, it's a study group (exam-specific) that comes to your inbox.

I agree with Jeff…. We are your hotline “experts” :P. To be honest, who doesn't know the material better than others studying for the exam?

@s2sylvir, what did you find out about the (Grandma's receiving huge SS Benefits) question I posted last week? LOL

I've posted a number of (CPA test) questions that's left unanswered all over the place here so I understand where's OP coming from.

I am so close of setting an appointment with the nearest H&R's Block in our area so I can get answers for so many confusing situations I've encountered while preparing for REG.

There is something to be said about reading an explanation, accepting it, and moving on.

So – when you're tripped up on one question – you don't understand the explanation completely, but in time you may.

Read the answer explanation your course provides and move on.

It's like getting stumped on exam day – let's say you're on question 5 of testlet one and FOR THE LIFE OF YOU, you cannot get the numbers to work.

Pick B or C and move on.

Sure, you can nitpick that question for 3 hours and make sure you nail that question – but guess what? You failed your exam because of it.

The same with studying – when some particular topic is eating away at you – spend a minute or two – read the explanation – write it down in your notes – move on.

Sure – you can fret about question ### over XYZ and do research, and call a helpline and spend 2 hours on it…do that too many times – and you're not setting yourself up for success on exam day.

    Move on.

    @Amor D

I apologize for not getting back to you. The chances of them asking you to actually calculate taxable SS is rare. Even our tax program takes an entire page statement to calculate it.

You can call the IRS and ask questions for free. I was going to do that while studying for REG – but I never got around to it. Dont tell them your studying, your just asking a hypothetical question – they always helped me for free in the past.

What I did do a few times for my Reg prep was download IRS forms and instuctionss to look over – not sure it it helped much, maybe itmade things more confusing.

But if you have access to a Tax Research module thru a test prep program; use that to find answers – then your practicing Research searching and getting answers at same time.

The best time to call IRS is within 2 days prior to CPA score release. Make sure your phone battery is fully recharged too. LOL

I agree that there are many questions or confusions that are not much worth our time. Better to move on. I compile them in one separate document to check back with them later when I get a chance to study and understand them better. It's just hard when we don't take the time to study them later and then see them in the actual test. Chances are we would be in the danger of getting 2 or 3 points away of passing.

@s2sylvir, you don't owe me an apology. That's okay, I buried grandma's ashes already. She's is 123 years old!
