California questions…?

Sent in my payment & transcripts requests on Sept 5… (cashed Sept 9/18) school sent my transcripts (9/20) to the State Board.

Am I going to be waiting til end of November before I get approval? I just graduated so am not working until I complete all 4 parts. I can start at anytime to study but do not want to begin now and then have two or three weeks wait time before I am still approved! Should I wait til mid October to begin? Or what do you guys in CA think? I am starting with AUD then BEC. I wanted to get both of these out of the way before December, then tackle the rest in Jan/Feb. I guess the worst case is only getting through 1 this quarter, which is fine, but still concerned when to begin.

Also, in reference to the 2014 changes. I have 150 credit hours. If I don’t begin working under a CPA until maybe May, will I now have to have two years experience or since I started in 2013, I only need one year?

    Thanks up front!

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

Start now. In all honesty, you should have started a couple of weeks ago. You now have 8.5 weeks to get through two tests. Any reason you are starting with AUD and BEC? If I were you, I would just take FAR this window and push the rest out to next year. What review course are you using?

Interesting…. I figured I'd start with Auditing cus it was my last course before I graduated… but I guess that was like 4 months ago. I am using Roger. I already made a study plan that begins tomorrow, so I'll start tomorrow then. I am ready to begin this, I am so bored sitting around all day.

With the 150, under pathway 2, you only need 1 year for a general but would need 500 hours of attest for the A.

I would definitely start studying right now, and do FAR then REG first! AUD should be your easiest and trying to pass FAR/REG could eat up your time. Also since you have 150 units you are good with just 1 year. Good luck!

Thanks for the help… however, my plan was going to be as follows:

AUD/BEC this quarter… then study December and half of Jan for FAR, then rest of Jan and Feb for REG. Wouldn't that be better cus of more time? Then if I fail (no way) then I have March-May to finish up. I HAVE to be done by May, I refuse to be doing this any longer, plus I'll need to work.

BUT, as Minimorty pointed out – perhaps I will just do FAR this quarter since my exam date is still unknown, might work out best.

Decided on taking FAR first! I am installing my USB drive in an hour (going to read the FAR exam prep forum first to calm down) so that means I'll have 12 months til it expires 🙂 🙂

I used Roger's 6 month study planner and made an excel doc – prepping for a Nov 9th sit date (my birthday is Mon the 12th so should work out perfect pending approval from the board!)

Broke it down to studying between 3-7 hours a day on M-F, then off Sat and Sun. Here we go…

    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

I WAS JUST APPROVED! Holy crap, that took like 10 days.

    Okay, enough from me now!

    FAR: 83

For me: request transcripts from schools in mid-July. Send application and check early August. Check was cashed mid-August. Got notice that I qualify to sit mid-Sept. Pay exam fee to NASBA and receive NTS within 3 days. The entire process took me about 2 months but my transcripts are a bit complicate since I transferred from a JC, and took classes after work since I graduate with a Finance degree.

    REG - 72, 72, 81
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 70, 81
    AUD - 74 "so that's what it feels like." Round 2: 79

Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!
