A friend and I have both been through the exam process by studying independently with Becker material. We were very motivated, put in a ton of hours studying, but did not pass. This time around we would like to put our heads together and set aside a few meetings a week to go over material together in addition to studying on our own. We are thinking working through problems, problem topics, flash cards, et.al. We are both very motivated.

Have any of you studied together with another person/group for your CPA exams? If so, do you have recommendations, strategies or techniques to share that you found effective?

I “study” with another group all the time. It's called another71.com. My cyberbuddies on this site are great and probably just as effective (if not more) as meeting in person.

No harm in getting together with your friend though. Just don't let it interfere with your own quality study time.
