AnonymousInactiveBob Monette Rocks! I'm not sure if he is still doing it or not. I've purchased a few of their books as well, and I liked it.

Study MonkMemberI haven't heard of anyone using bisk in the last decade and passing. It could be a great program for all I know. I am not sure if I would risk it.
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

SyzygyMemberBisk was the required text for a business law course of mine. Compared to Becker (which I used to pass all four sections) and Wiley (which were the assigned CPA review texts for my courses related to FAR, AUD, and BEC) Bisk was simply AWFUL. (Note that I've only used parts of the business law book.)
The book seems to be written more to boost the author's ego than prepare a candidate for the exam – it's unnecessarily complex, pretentious and leaves readers confused (commercial paper endorsements are referred to using the archaic term “indorsement,” for example. The author seemed to give little regard to order of topic presentation (or whether certain topics would even be tested at all).
It probably sounds like I have an ax to grind or something, but I don't see any reason to go with Bisk with all of the options and price points available.

GutiParticipantI think Bisk CPA is great for Governmental and Not for Profit. Rober Monette is just a brilliant professor. He gives so many examples that now Gov and not for profit is starting to make sense. Becker really sucks at explaining those two chapters, they assume you already know the material.

Nude RoosterMemberI purchased the Bisk books and software for all 4 sections when I first started studying. I used it to study for FAR. I never used the physical book to study because the text is in the software also. The software was awful, slow, and crashed on me periodically. On my older laptop, when I would answer a MC practice question, it would literally take 7-10 seconds to tell me if it the answer was right or wrong. After FAR I went with WTB and never used the rest of the Bisk materials I paid for (books or software). As someone who paid for it and used it, I would not recommend it, and I tell all of our new hires to stay away from it.

GutiParticipantI don't know about the full course, I wouldn't buy it either. I'm talking about the hot spot videos. The hot spot videos just cover one topic at a time. for example, if you were having issues understanding pensions in the Becker course then you will use the hot spot video for pensions only. I'm using the videos now for governmental and not for profit, and believe me, this guy can teach.
