    Hello fellow partial CPAs,

What do you think of Yaeger in comparison to Becker for the BEC exam? Has anyone passed the BEC exam using Yaeger? I feel like the Becker review is more thorough than Yaeger, but a lot of people have been telling me that Yaeger is awesome for BEC. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

I will have to admit. After failing BEC twice, I ordered Yaeger. Cindy is great with breaking down the variances and the FIFO Wtd Avg conversion stuff. But that dang dr macmillian sucks!!!!!!!!!!!! omg i hate his voice, i was cursing at him to shut the he$$ up! I finally just went back to the dude from becker and looked at his lecture after i sat through that brutal sounding voice of dr mcmillan. The partnership stuff was comparable with beckers. although i did have one question, yaeger states that to admit a gp all partners must agree. i cant remember if the becker book stated that, in fact i thought i remembered a question on becker about that, that stated gp's must agree. I will go and peek at becker as soon as i finish typing this. Thanks for asking for this comparison because i would have forgotten to check my becker book and google!!!

Back to that dr millian he gave a formula for the price elasticity of demand that differed from beckers. so i applied the yeager formula on becker questions and the becker formula on yaeger questions and low and behold they resulted in different answers. finally i had to wikipedia the answer it was similar to beckers formula.

I take my test on Monday the 22nd so we will have to see if yaeger did any good for bec. i personally felt that for mods 39-42a i could have done without it and stuck with becker. I did personally like cindy, she is really funny and has her own way of understanding things that makes it stick. But her chipper attitude CANNOT change that dang voice of dr mcmillan.

    hope my rant helps!!

I'm not familiar with Yaeger, so I can't compare Becker with Yaeger.

All I can say is that Becker has been working for me. I passed both FAR and BEC the first time around. I work full time and I spent a couple of months studying for each section which I think is not that much time considering I only study a couple of hours at night and during weekends. So my conclusion would be that Becker is really good.

    FAR - 79
    BEC - 84
    AUD - 89
    REG - 02/05

Another option… Philadelphia CPA review. I felt ready for BEC with the excellent teaching and good practice Qs.

From my experience, some of Becker's MCQ are just ridiculous, only leading to disappointment and negativity. My software kept it simple enough so I learned everything I needed to.

I used Becker (and only Becker) and managed to pass all sections on the first try. I just hammered their m.c. questions hard.
