    Hi Everyone,

I am using Becker and Ninja MCQ to study for BEC. This is going to be my first CPA exam part and I am not sure if my study strategy is enough. I went through all the becker videos and highlighted the book as I watched. I tried to take more detailed notes than just whatever the guy was saying. It is been approximately 3 weeks and I have gone through 90% of all the homeworks scoring around 70ish for each BEC part. I also wrote flashcards in every pass key from Becker. Each day I try to do some Ninja MCQ – which to my surprise tend to be a little different from Becker problems. Now I am getting extremely worried because I feel that I know some of the material and I forget some. Any suggestions on what I should do? I keep working on Becker problems again and again just to make sure I understand them. I have not tried the progress test since it appears that it shows the same homework problems?? Should I keep going with doing MCQ ? will I ok for the actual exam? I cant even sleep due to the worries 🙁

Any advise on this would be great!!!

    Thanks in advance!

    Question: When is your exam?

Basically you are right where you should be in all honesty. The first pass at Becker is never going to be great. You'll tend to score in the 70's the whole way through with some sections a bit better and others a bit worse.

For now you just want to keep working questions and, especially, reinforce the areas you're weakest at and areas you know are heavily tested. For BEC they say it's Governance/COSO, Cost Accounting and IT. But everything else is fair game (Economics, Planning and, especially, Finance).

Which brings me to my last point. Because everything is fair game, you're never going to be 100% confident that you've mastered all of the material. There is simply too much (and if you think BEC is bad, wait until you get to FAR). So you simply hedge your bets by studying concepts you are weak on and focusing on heavily tested areas while keeping everything else well rounded. You're not going to memorize it all. And on test day you're going to panic. But just keep hitting the MCQ and try to learn from your mistakes.

Good luck. I take BEC this Friday myself. So I know what you're going through.

Thank you so much Angelwatch!!! I graduated in dec 2014 and so I had to wait for my transcript to be done and then be sent to Nasba. I have read that the evaluation process takes approximately 2-4 week so I am guessing sometime in late february. So, in meanwhile I have been working on the problems. And yes you are definitely right ! there is only so much one can remember and even memorize.

Best of luck and thanks again!!!
