I’ve got BEC coming up very soon, this Monday…and it also happens to be my very first CPA exam. I’ve been relying solely on Wiley text, Wiley test bank, Ninja notes, and CPAreview4free. I’ve been feeling pretty confident with the MCQ’s. Earlier I was browsing through older posts and kept coming across posters describing how the actual BEC exam was entirely different than what they studied for. Now I’m not feeling so confident! Help!

I’m relaxing tonight, trying to stay sane and take my mind off things. It’s raining like crazy (hurricane), and I’m watching movies and enjoying a drink or four. Tomorrow I’ll put in a few more hours to keep my mind fresh, but I’m not going to over do it.

But one thing is for certain…I should probably stop reading through the horror stories of older BEC posts!

    BEC: Passed
    AUD: Passed
    REG: Passed
    FAR: Passed

I actually felt as though I was pretty well prepared for BEC. I used Becker (which I've seen people say doesn't prepare you well for BEC), NINJA notes, and CPAreviewforfree.com. I don't remember seeing more than a couple of questions that I hadn't seen before, and even on those I felt like I was able to take an educated guess.

    Good luck on Monday!

Don't let those stories get the best of you! If you're feeling confident about how you were doing, and you feel you are doing pretty well, then stick with your plan, it's seems to be a good one, and keep practicing mcqs. The CPA exam can be pretty nerve-wracking, and many people, including me, have come out of the test feeling like they failed- and they passed! The stories people share are to help them and also serve as comfort for others who feel the same way.

But not everyone walks out of the exam, feeling bad. One of my exams I felt pretty good about, and passed. It works differently for everyone, so don't let all this stuff get you nervous. This is your first exam – BEC should hopefully not be too bad (so far, FAR and REG in my opinion are harder), and you'll hopefully have a good test experience and pass! And if you're anxious about it while you're waiting for your scores, the stories and comments here can be reassuring that you're not the only one who feels like that.

Just relax and yes, stop reading those “horror” stories. It won't help you right now.

I'm taking BEC this week, too. Good luck to us all!!

I took BEC last window and passed on the first try using only Wiley book and testbank and ninja notes, i thought the MCQ in wiley were pretty representative of the format/wording/difficulty of the questions on the actual exam. Just be prepared for written communications on topics outside of BEC topics. My strategy if i didnt know how to answer the question was to just make up something as though i was writing to someone who didnt know anything about accounting and therefore would have no idea if i was technically accurate. You are only graded on writing ability not technical accuracy, so long as it sounds like you know what you are talking about thats all that matters, good luck!
