A year ago I decided that I was done with the CPA Exam. I had lost credit for the first section I passed & failed FAR even after studying really hard. I work in Internal Audit and having the CPA completed wasn’t necessary for my position. Last week, I was given the opportunity to take a job in a different department and if I want to be promoted and succeed, I will need my CPA. So, reluctantly, I’ve decided to pick it back up. Luckily I still have credit for REG and that doesn’t expire until the end of August. I think that I can tackle the other three by doing FAR (the hardest for me) first, then BEC, and then AUD, which should be the easiest since I’ve been in external and internal audit for a combined three years. I’ve also passed BEC and AUD before and studied for FAR so hopefully it will come back a little bit more easily. Anyways, I used Rogers for FAR and hated it. I found that it didn’t explain concepts very well and I think that was a major reason why I failed. I just discovered Becker Online and was wondering if anyone has used it and what they thought of it. I’m thinking it may be a good option to keep me on track, especially for FAR. Any thoughts/opinions about study courses?

I'd say give Becker a shot, I used them for all of my exams (I did use freecpaexam review for auditing this second time), but I passed the other exams using Becker and their scheduling system. I tried the in class study at first but with FAR that just gave me less time to study before the next class started and got a 71. The second time I made my own schedule of a chapter a week and passed FAR the second time. Give it a shot, just pick the system that works best for you. I am really good at setting my own schedule so self study was best for me, but some people need to be accountable to someone and that is where meeting with a class or an online tracking works for them.

Yeah, I think I need to just suck it up and pay for Becker. I used the self study option the first time around but I'm curious how people like the Online course. I say you should look at samples for each review course. I had Becker in the beginning, and it was not for me. Now, I am doing my own self study with Wiley books, focus notes, and the online test bank. I do not have video or audio lectures, and have passed 2 of 3 tests taken. I suggest you buy the Wiley book, and order the Wiley Test Bank through A71. You will only be out around $150, and will know if it works for you after the first test.

Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!
