hkumar117MemberI want to take AUD in the first testing window of 2015 since I still need to take my Audit class in order for me to qualify to sit for the exam. I am currently in a MsA program and will be trying to finish the exam by summer of 2015. My fall semester ends on December 17 and I would like to give 4-6 weeks of study time to AUD and sit for it at the end of January right before my classes start. Do you think 4-6 weeks is sufficient? I have nothing to do since I will be on break so I can dedicate a massive amount of time to study.
BEC - 79
AUD - 7/22/15
REG - 8/31/15
FAR - Sometime in November

AnonymousInactiveI am took Audit Methodology in Jan/Feb and am in Audit Research now. I plan on taking AUD in May. I am giving myself 3 weeks after finals on May 1, if things work out. I feel like that is more than enough time. In fact, my MSA Program ACTIVELY encourages us to take AUD by May 31.
My professor makes CPA exam prep a big focal point in class. Honestly, I feel confident that I could pass the exam today based just on his lectures, if I had to. (I am not sure what is official, so I cannot post anything less vague, but word is that he was hired to do video lectures for one of the CPA review companies.) Obviously, I am going to be studying as furiously as everyone else during those last three weeks to solidify my score, but my confidence is a testament to (a) how good of an audit instructor I have, and (b) how much of an advantage we have for taking the exam while the material is so fresh in our minds.

KimboroniMemberThat sounds reasonable to me. It might even be too much time.
I had a similar schedule. I took audit last summer and advanced audit in the fall, and both teachers were really good at teaching toward the practical side– not necessarily for the exam, but definitely toward being able to go out and help with an audit, which I hear is missing from a lot of audit classes. So that works well for exam prep also.
The advanced audit instructor urged us at the start of the term to sit for AUD in January if we had enough credits, and then one day told me “you're ready.” So I mailed my application on 11/20/13, got my NTS on 12/5/13, and scheduled the test for 1/9/14. Our class wrapped up just before Thanksgiving. I studied pretty lightly at first, until I determined that I had a few gaps and needed some extra materials, so I got the Wiley books and started my intense studying the day after Christmas. Took the test 1/9/14 as scheduled and passed. Maybe I overstudied and didn't need the Wiley materials, but I felt better having them.
I highly recommend getting a test bank at a minimum so you can do lots of practice questions.
AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)Disclaimer: My ninja avatar is not meant to imply that I have any affiliation with this site other than being a forum member. That's a pic of a T-shirt that my daughter gave me for my birthday. 🙂

Study MonkMemberWow planning a year ahead. Good Job!
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

hkumar117MemberThank for the advice everyone. I plan on getting Roger review course (school gets me a discount) as well Ninja Notes and possibly audio to play in the car and at night. I may be overdoing it but the higher I score, the better. I appreciate everyones input, I feel as if I can prepare in 3 weeks since I will be straight from the class but don't want to be over confident.

AnonymousInactiveI think you can do it, especially if you go into the class knowing you are using it to study for the exam. It will change how you approach the class and will only benefit you for the exam.
