I work full-time at a small CPA firm, and am married with two children ages 4 and 10 months. Here is the plan that I attempt to follow on a daily basis:

    Study Round: 4-5 weeks

Weekdays: 1 hour during lunch, 1 hour in the evening

    Weekends: 4-5 hours each day

    Review Round: 1-2 weeks

Weekdays: 1 hour before work, 1 hour during lunch, 1 hour in the evening

    Weekends: 4-5 hours each day

Before the study round, I go through the book estimating how long it will take for each chapter, and set a goal date to be finished with that chapter. After 2 weeks of study, I look at my progress to determine if an extra week is needed, and schedule the date to take the exam. At any point in time during the study period, I will add 1 hour of study time to catch my self up to the schedule set for myself.

I hope this helps you out.

    CPA EXAM: DONE!!!!
    Ethics Course: Passed
    Application Mailed: 3/16/15
    Professional Conduct Exam: 97
    Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!

    I work full-time and I'm married.

Most of my studying happens in the early hours. I get up anywhere from 5 – 5:45am, grab my coffee, and get started. I have to stop around 7am to get for work, and leave the house by 7:30am.

In the evenings I try to be sitting back down to study by 8pm, and continue until 9:30 – 10pm. This doesn't happen every evening – usually one or two nights a week I'll just review notes/flashcards then go to bed early. Otherwise I'll get run down and will end up sick.

On the weekends I'll either take one day and study ALLL day, or split it up over both days. It depends on what we have going on.

I'm not sitting for FAR until the Jan test window, and it's taking me longer to get through some of the material since it's been awhile since I've been in school. I review my notes/flashcards often to keep concepts fresh, and will do progress sets on old chapters a couple times a week.

FAR - 73, rematch in early April
    AUD - 5/14
    REG - 8/14
    BEC - 11/14

Working full time for a CPA firm, attempting ELL. Usually get the early part in monday, wednesday, friday. Then, squeeze in 30-45 minutes during lunch, and try for at least 1 hour at night. My weekends are where I try to do the bulk of my studying since I have been stuck working late recently.

If you can afford to work part time or wait to work, I'm sure its an advantage that's worth taking.

That said, if you want the CPA exam badly enough, it doesn't matter how much else you've got going on. I was over 40, have 2 kids, working full time at one job, worked weekends at a retail store AND was taking online classes for my Masters degree.

Studied at lunch and listened to audio while commuting, then an hour after I did homework at night.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I work full-time, have 3 kids all living at home (2 in college) and a husband (who counts as 4 kids!)

    3 weeks of study

    2-3 weeks of review

    M-F 6pm to 9pm

S-S All darn day, I try to get in my chores took, so probably average 7-8 hours

During my review weeks, if I am behind I kick it up a couple of hours with staying up later. I am not a morning person.

I wasn't passing these exams until I went to this sort of time commitment. It's hard on my family, but they know it's only temporary. I did some bribing too, I promised some football game tickets for the family for the season after I pass. GO DUCKS!

Oh, and a trip to Hawaii for us too!

    AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
    REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
    BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass
    FAR - Dec 4,13 Pass

I work full time and also incorporated the ELL system. I go into work 1 hour before my start time and sit at my desk and study. Generally no one is in yet so I can get in a good amount and being here gets my mind into work/focus mode.

Then 1 hour around lunch time. Then usually 1-2 hours at night. On the weekends, 4-5 hours per day tops. I'm one of those people that starts to see serious diminishing returns so I try and get it out of the way early in the day when I'm most productive. I can then use the afternoon to handle my other obligations.

I have a lot of respect for people that are working and doing this with children (especially young ones). That has to be tough.

I work 7am-4pm, get to the library at around 4:45pm and study until around 8:30 or 9. Once I get home, I take a little time to unwind and if I'm not yet exhausted, I'll try to do some notecards (sometimes with the TV on).

On weekends I do 8 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday.

It's totally doable working full time and studying for the CPA exam – it's just really painful and exhausting…
