I really liked CPAexcel for BEC. The only reason I failed it the first time is because I allowed myself to get behind in my study schedule.

I've heard Becker sucks for BEC this year. Sorry to see that you failed with such a close score again, but I think that changing review courses is a smart move for you.

    BEC: 70, 82

I used just the Wiley Book and CPA Review for Free and passed it in August 2011. I thought the Wiley book prepared me very well and the multiple choice questions on CPA Review for Free really helped enforce the concepts. I think the Wiley book is like $37 too! I did study for 7 weeks however, not sure what your study time frame is. I studied (1) hour at lunch at work and (2) hours a night during the week and as much as I could on the weekends. I had a new born at home as well, but to be honest having a kid just made me focus even more on passing this beast.

    Good Luck next time…..

I've heard the same about Becker. I used Yaeger and barely passed but Cindy's lectures did not add a whole lot. She mainly read from the Wiley book. What was helpful from the Yaeger package were the notes with all the formulas, etc though.

    REG - 7/23/11 - 87
    BEC - 8/30/11 - 78
    FAR - 11/23/11 - 89
    AUD - 1/14/12 - 88

I used a combination of Becker and Yaeger for BEC: Becker for IT and Econ, Yaeger for everything else.

I think Cindy did an excellent job with cost accounting and variances. She thoroughly explains the concepts. Sure, she reads from the book at times but I'd rather her read it and tell me what's important than to try to read it on my own. Honestly, I don't know how someone can study from the Wiley book without a review program. It is so detailed!

She works through the multiple choice questions and will tell you how to work it if the question is asked in a different way. I know on my BEC exam I had one formula that was asked in 3 different questions.

Check out some demos and see what you like as far as teaching style. Mix it up.

I've used Yaeger for FAR and BEC…passed both on the first try. I'm using them for REG now. I'll stick with them.

I agree with everything Allyson just posted about BEC. Sure Cindy would read from the book, but I rather her read the important parts than me. She also works a lot of the MCQs out for you and gives very helpful tips on how to answer them. The notes they give you are pretty dang good too.

    Thanks guys

I was wondering if I should leave it til next window, so I can get yaeger 2012 updated version

CPA excel maybe an option too, I'm glad you guys admit Becker didn't do well on BEC, I thought it's my problem on my end

You guys are awesome and so glad you guys passed!

    Thanks again

i failed BEC 4 times using becker, just barely passed this window with yaeger

i wouldn't say it was 100% because of yaeger i passed but cindy does make variances look like a joke, couldn't understand it for the life of me when using becker

but definitely switch the review program, u've probably already memorized all the mcq from becker

BEC is no joke, i don't get how some people consider it the easiest exam

i first used becker self study, then did in class becker, then finally got self study yaeger. never got a cram for any parts

Like bakerslky, I only used the Wiley book and CPA Review for Free when I took BEC this summer. However, I got a 69 on it. I only studied for about 3 to 4 weeks though, so I'm trying that route again and going to retake it next month.

    REG - 79
    BEC - 75
    AUD - 84
    FAR - 75
Done...Thank you Wiley Books, Wiley Test Bank, and the NINJA Notes

@Kobe I would recommend Roger CPA Review. His videos are pretty good.

Failed with Becker twice, switched to Yaeger and Wiley online test bank, failed one more time (74), bought the Ninja Notes, then passed (75). BEC is hard for some of us.

    AUD - 74,79
    FAR - 77
    REG - 81
    BEC - 70,69,74,75 - DONE!

I've failed BEC six times. The first three I used Becker exclusively. I've tried Yaeger and got close (72 and that was with a hideous migraine). I've used CPAexcel and Lambers but still missed it. My BEC fails and FAR (3 time fail) caused me to lose my AUD and REG credits. I've decided to take a break – got my CFE and working on my CGAP and will tackle the BEC/FAR beast beginning in 2012. My plan this time is to read the darn book until I know the stuff cold before I ever schedule a test. Until I can get BEC and FAR passed there's no point moving forward.
