AnonymousInactiveI have been at this exam for a year now and have two parts down. My question is does anyone feel distracted at work over this exam to the point that it is affecting you at your job? It is so hard to study and work full time and sometimes I feel very distracted at work to the point where I just want it to be time to go home so I can hit the books. Does anyone else experience the same or similar?

teeteenounoucheMember@mjp44 Do you have any tips for passing FAR…I am gathering all of the advice I can get…
My boss came by to talk about work stuff and caught me with CPAExcel up and I played it off and said “Oh, I'm on my lunch break” lmao

AnonymousInactive@teeteenounouche, I would say with FAR besides rolling the dice. Invest in Yaeger Gary is good on the NFP stuff, if you don't have the money. Then do more Gov, NFP and IFRS and the framework. Allot of us study the difficult concepts then you go to the test then they hit with the basics. I took a comprehensive class on gov accounting and that worked out for me and I had some IFRS background that's what I leant my whole life, US GAAP was a stranger cow. Know your leases and Bonds treatments under different accounting frameworks. There is an IFRS cheat sheet if you google IFRS asset treatment or IAS 2. CF statements under gov, nfp and gaap.
Use the AICPA database for your research and study.

teeteenounoucheMemberThanks Eliabraham! I will definitely hit those topics hard…I am actually taking my time to read the material thoroughly like NYCaccountant suggested even though it stresses me out…I can't wait to get to the MCQs phase in about 2 weeks…

teeteenounoucheMemberYes, during lunch and when no one's looking, lol usually practice quiz for 10 questions is the fastest way to sneak in a review here and there without stopping my work for too long…

jloughMemberI study at work all the time… if I have all my assignments done. I figure that if I get some study time in during downtime, it makes up for the overtime I put in at work during quarter/year/month end. Plus, the CPA is job-related and I'm using the information I learn in my studies to do better at my job. In fact, just today I broke out my FAR notebooks to look up the JE for the early retirement of bonds.

R- 10/13- 79
A- 11/13- 99
B- 1/14- 86Licensed in PA- 3/20/2014
This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

MintsRGoodParticipantI'm perpetually worried/distracted about these exams! I had a great study free weekend but I have this nagging feeling that I can't shake that I'll be hitting the books again after score release. Ugh. I just want to pass so I can stop feeling perpetually guilty about everything relating to these exams!
One of my study strategies entails arriving at the office an hour to hour and a half early to study at my desk before the business day starts. Not only do I avoid the hellacious traffic in my area during rush hour but it's always nice and quiet in those first 90 minutes or so. I am fortunate to have a nicely appointed office in my building so it's pleasant to study there! I also read Ninja notes on long and pointless conference calls and listen to audio quietly at my desk. Do what you've got to do to see that 75+!!! 🙂
REG: 75 DONE 🙂
AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂
