I am just curious whether anyone ever has passed a section without specifically reviewing for the section of the CPA exam and instead relied on what they learned in school or at the job?

@nbad311 You should ask her a random CPA question and see if she gets it right

I do recall my auditing professor giving the mid term and final exams. I received the highest scored tied with someone else in the class, I think it was 80 before the curve for the mid term and I didn't learn what the final score was but I received an A in the class. She stated that the mid term was equivalent to half the CPA Audit section exam and the final was equivalent to the other half. It was all multiple choice questions though.

Based on that, maybe if I took it immediately after?

I read that this is how the CPA test passing score (75) is calibrated. They ask random CPAs to take the test and their scores become the 75.

    CMA I 420, II 470
    FAR 91, AUD Feb 2015 (Gleim self-study)

I sat for BEC, REG and AUD shortly after graduating (like within the first year) and didn't study, but I did attend a review course. I just didn't do the actual work/homework, etc. I got in the 50's on all 3. I know that for me I absolutely WILL NOT pass without studying.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

A friend of a friend passed all 4 sections within one testing window while partying almost every night and very very minimal studying. Like 5 hours a week at most. Dudes a freak of nature though.

    AUD-87 (12/5/13)

@OP: looks like you got a 77 on AUD. So did you study?? This should give you a clue…

The only part I didn't study for was WC part of BEC because I knew I was good at writing and I did stronger on that part.

For everything else I studied a lot – per Roger CPA review recommendation and I felt well-prepared which isn't exactly reflected in my scores, in my opinion. So, I don't know what people do to score 90's. …yes, I'm weird πŸ˜‰ I do envy them… but just a little bit πŸ™‚

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14
