AnonymousInactiveI had my retake of AUD yesterday and it was like a completely different test than the first one. I studied exponentially hard for the retake and felt my studying was more than sufficient IF I were retaking an exam similar to my first one. That was not the case. This test made me feel like I wasn’t even taking AUD. Is it possible that retake exams are designed to be harder than a first sitting or am I one of the few that can’t figure out what the heck happened??

nbad311MemberI am not sure if they can make retakes harder, but I feel I had exactly the same experience on my AUD and FAR exams.
First attempts for both I was admittedly not as prepared as I should have been, but pleasantly surprised that the tests weren't *AS* hard as I was expecting. Failed both however, and I was ok with that (73 and 70, “sort of” close) I thought that with good studying, if I took those two tests again I could definitely get scores in the high 80s or 90s.
So I busted butt for my re-takes and BARELY passed. Both tests were just ridiculous. I am elated to have it passed of course, but sometimes I still can't believe that I studied as much as I did (a LOT) for my audit re-take and only brought my score up 2 POINTS.
REG - 65, 70, 80!
BEC - 35, 62, 79!
AUD - 73, 75!
FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.November 14, 2013 at 4:47 pm #473312

AnonymousInactiveI wish I had some good advice. I listened to the Audio nonstop for 2 months. I used the Ninja Notes as a base for my notetaking and incorporated all of my notes from reading the book and from the MCQs into those notes. I reread those notes (74 total pages) at least 5 times and rewrote them once. I felt I knew this stuff pretty well. I wasn't doing as well on the MCQs I had previously gotten wrong when I went back over them the day before the exam, but it was minimal in comparison to the ones I got right. I have no idea what I'll be able to add to my studying if I have to take it again. Sorry to bring down the mood. It is possible that AUD is just not my strong suit at all. It's an entirely different way of thinking for me since I have been on the corporate accounting side for so long.

mla1169ParticipantI think we get tricked when we retake an exam. For example say on our first exam we see a lot of questions about carrots and onions. When we study for a retake somehow we think we blew it on carrots and onions so that's all we study.
Then we're blown away when the retake is all about apples and pears. I mean we thought about apples and pears but really put our attention into carrots and onions.
That said, the last time I took aud I knew for a fact that I failed. would would have bet my home and kids on the fact that I failed and it was my best score ever so hang in there!
FAR- 77
AUD -49, 71, 84
REG -56,75!
BEC -75Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

AnonymousInactiveI hope that's how it is for me too. I didn't even look at my comparative breakdown to see stronger/weaker/comparable for which sections so I know that didn't influence my studying at all. It was just the strangest thing ever.

AnonymousInactive@CPAMommyof3 I was actually thinking how you would do it in your exam, since I could see in these adds your dedication to study. I think you should just relax and wait until you have the result, let us know!
