ParticipantI use becker flashcards. I read trhough them…sometimes, if its a topic that I can answer the question in my head before flipping over to the back or use them to have a conversation (in my head lol) about the topic to help reinforce learning. I used them mostly during final review…either first thing before getting started on MCQ's for the study session or while laying in the bed before going to sleep. I would also pull them out when I got really frustrated after performing badly on a set of practice MCQ's or just need a break from them…my way of stepping away and taking a deep breath before jumping back into more sets of MCQ's.
AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
BEC - 79 - Pass
FAR - 70,82 - PassSeptember 3, 2013 at 4:28 pm #443633so1913

MemberI use ninja flashcards in a similar way to what so1913 said. I don't typically say an answer out loud, but I do force myself to say the answer in my head before ‘flipping the card'. I have them on my phone so I've used them when I've been out or stuck somewhere and had time to look at them, or sometimes before bed. I haven't re-written the flashcards… but the info usually ends up in my own notes.

InactiveI had the Becker flashcards and they were really helpful. They were great for FAR since they provided a summary of concepts, but way too wordy for Audit. I made additional notecards to cover any missing information. Also, I summarized giant topics on one notecard such as audit risk or the format for the unmodified opinion so that I had ‘fact nuggets' to walk around with.
The entire Becker flashcard set is ridiculous. They come in a box that is almost two feet long. I would flip through each section to make piles of notecards that were easy and a second pile of notecards that I did not understand. Then I would focus on the harder pile until I had those concepts down. I tried to go through this process as I went through the chapters, but I usually did this in the days before my exams.

Using it for BEC and found it helpful to retain soo many formulas 😐

ParticipantI used NINJA Flashcards on my phone. They were like a lullaby to me before going to sleep. I could usually do 20 minutes before I fall asleep. I think flashcards hurt your brain a little especially when you do it in a way that so1913 and 10key does (that is, forcing yourself to say the answer in your head before flipping).. so it makes me tired and slowly drift to dreamland.
BEC 82 Nov 2012 | REG 80 Feb 2013 | FAR 76!!! Apr 2013 | AUD 69 May 2013 | AUD 83!!! Aug 2013
Done!! Thanks Jeff & A71 friends!

MemberMy friend who's an attorney and attempted the CPA exam bought Becker, failed FAR, and stopped trying, so she gave me all her flashcards to use. I go through them and put them into my notes. I did that for REG, and a little bit for AUD. Will do it for the remaining two.

InactiveI hand-write every note onto flashcards myself, and repeatedly go over them to memorize the info. For me, repetition leads to memorization. Hand written flash cards are a good tool to use because it MAKES you read/write your notes again, and they are also very good mobile MCQ material if you rewrite them as a question.
