Hello everyone,

Congratulations to all of you that have passed at least one part of the CPA exam. Unfortunately I cannot say the same…I have tried each part of the CPA AND FAILED EACH ONE…obviously my strategy is not working….I tried studying of my own but that has not worked… so now I am looking for a review course that will be more effective…. any suggestions??? I work full time and have a family as many of you… so you can see my dilemma. Thank you for any help!!!!

Hey! Sorry to hear you haven't passed any exams, you're not the only one…. I'm in the same boat and it's absolutely frustrating. I retook AUD in November and I did WORST!!! Ahh, so studying for it once again.

As far as study material- I'm currently using Roger's online course- had a free retake, but I've been hearing good things about Yaeger. I just wanted to take advantage of my free repeat, since it expires in July. Best of luck to you and keep plugging away!

Becker, Yaeger or Roger are your best options for CPA courses. It depends on your learning style, so take that in consideration when choosing your CPA review course.

Which review course really depends on where you feel you're weak areas are. I don't have an accounting background and my 24 hours in accounting were taught by the worst instructor ever so I needed to be “taught”. I have Becker which is good if you know the basics already and just need a review. I use Lambers and Yaeger for the areas that I really needed help with. I passed AUD with Becker alone, and used Becker and Lambers for REG for a pass. I'm taking FAR and BEC in Feb and Apr and using Becker, Lambers, Yaeger and CPA Excel with some cpareviewforfree.com MCQs thrown in. I am determined to finally pass these last two and be a CPA in 2011.

I attended Becker's live review course…and it helped tons! I know that life is hectic – I don't have a family but I work 2 jobs. I know classes take time out of your schedule, but they really help if you need structre!! I'd really recommend them. I recommend them so much I'm going to re-take the BEC one if my last test didn't go well. 🙂

The Becker “live ” class I attended was just someone popping in a DVD. Real instructors would have been better. If I'm going to watch a DVD, I'll do it on my time. I have had to learn to really be disciplined about it though.
