    Hi!

I would like to start by wishing everyone best of luck on this upcoming testing window!

I really need support and desperate seeking advice….

I sat down for AUD and failed again with another 72, this was my 3rd attempt at this test…. I’m loosing faith and getting side track from focusing on studying….

Walking in I felt great about my preparation and knew that no matter what I was going to be able to answer any questions/ any topic, I was indeed prepared to pass this test.

I haven’t received my evaluation as of yet….

I was also scoring in the 90’s on Ninja and Wiley MCQ’s….

I need help with a study plan… what should I do?

    Priscilla

    Just my .02 worth:

    1. Don't pay attention to the score report. It will confuse you and does not offer any actual useful information. Kind of ironic since we are talking about AUD, but there it is. I quit looking at them.

    2. I think you may have memorized the answers to the questions and not the concept. It's easy to do. I was consistently getting 90% or higher on the FAR Wiley OTB and then I'd get a 73 on the test. Try going back to the books, pencil and paper to study. Doing that may force you to RTFQ. Typically, when I thought I did really well, but actually bombed, it was because I didn't RTFQ. Going back to pencil and paper forces you to slow down. Use the online questions as practice tests, but work every problem in the book. If you get it wrong, write an explanation, using your own words, of the concept as it applies to that question. Keep working problems. If you get another one wrong on the same concept, write it down again! Every time you miss the question, write, write, write.

    3. Get Mad! Don't walk into Prometric feeling “prepared”. Walk in there prepared to kill it! Find your fight song and listen to it before you sit in the hot seat again.

    4. Have faith in yourself. Don't let that little voice in your head that is looking at a 73 tell you that you can't do this. Evict that little freeloading SOB! Hold your head up! You know this stuff. With some practice, some faith, and some confidence then you've already passed the exam. You just have to go fill out the paperwork.

    @ Kricket

Thank you for your words of advice…. I will apply and find that “song” also…. I have to agree that my lost probably had to do with RTFQ…..

    Thank you again!

Some people say the “fight song” thing is baloney, but it works for professional athletes and it worked for me. I'm a huge Eminem fan so my play list on the 2 hour drive to Prometric went like this:

    Lose Yourself

    Going through Changes

    Beautiful

    Not Afraid

    25 to Life

Walk in pumped up like a prize fighter ready to do battle, because that is what you are about to do.

    HI,

If I studied all material… how should you recommend I prepare for my re-take?

One thing I like to do is make a list of my tricky topics. There's no use going over material that you'd already mastered Anything that I find really hard or uncomfortable I focus hard on. I also have nugget notes. Which are small pieces of info that I keep forgetting that are important or reoccurring, I read my nugget notes once a day.

Also, if you've already looked over most of your WTB try different MCQ's. If you don't mind buying something new i'd suggest the Ninja MCQ's they're very reasonably priced. If you'd rather not spend money i'd go to cpaforfree and to the free questions.

    AUD - 65, 89!
    REG - 70, 89!
    FAR - 78!
    BEC - 77!

    Finally!

Kricket: My fight song is by Eminem as well, but Till I Collapse is my preference.

Maybe it is the SIMs that are keeping you from passing? Those can be pretty tricky, especially when they seem to draw more from FAR material than they do for AUD… but that is inherent in the nature of auditing that sometimes you need to supply adjusting or correcting journal entries for the client, or do analysis of their ratios. I have also heard that you can search the AL for the AUD SIMs (not just research question(s)), although that was not my experience.

That is also a question of time management and leaving enough time for SIMs by not getting stuck on MCQs. SIMs are worth 40%, so allocating about 40% of the time to them is a good guideline.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
