I am graduating at the end of this month and will have 10 weeks off before I start my summer internship at a big 4 firm. When the internship ends I am jumping head first into a full-time graduate degree program. I initially planned to take 1 or 2 of the tests in the 10 week window, but have been recently plotting to go for all 4.

I want to make the most of my time off, and I am generally a good test taker. I work best under pressure, so I think this might be a good plan for me. I just wanted to get some other opinions on this plan. Is this crazy? Has anyone else done something similar? What would be the best way to divide up the 10 weeks for the tests?

@nvx2222 totally true! Canadians are indeed nice people, but the ILBOA staff are not normal! I'm still wondering how were they able to answer my e-mail inquiries in a useful manner in the same day!

    @ adele

i see you are starting grad school this fall. Congratulations!

i just completed my masters in professional accountancy in June 2012. Let me tell ya, you will be doing a lot of FASB researches, like tons of it if you go for the same/similar degree. It did helped me immensely on the FAR test (under a minute to find it) b/c I've done research daily 5 days a week not only FASB but IRC and like, and more over, AU/ET/AT and guidelines were required to be purchased in a form of the textbooks and i have gradually got used to these things like a second nature. Again, congratulations on your decision to attend school further.

Do you plan to work full-time and school part time or full time school?

I attended school full time and did not work those quarters, but school went over fast b/c of daily tons of work assigned, nothing extremely hard but a lot of volume on top of teaching peers once a month, so just be aware that there will be not much social life if you want to make it top student.

doesn't the big 4 give you time off to study?

    FAR - 1/26/2012 - PASSED (78, but Lost credit), re-do 11/27/2013 - PASSED (87)!
    AUD - EPIC FAIL, 71, 69; 68; 5/25/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    REG - 10/1/2012 - 72; 7/1/2013 - 73 UGH, 10/1/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    BEC - 2/28/2013 - PASSED (82)!

hahaha, this is majorly old. for anyone wondering, i did not do all 4 in 10 weeks 😛 and for anyone thinking of doing that, i would not recommend it.

@seattle, i am actually in my grad program right now (this was a post from a while back). i'm doing grad tax, which is basically useless in terms of CPA exam knowledge. i'm in school full time. really trying to finish the exams before i start work this upcoming fall.

I passed 2 (FAR & REG) in 4 weeks so it can be done. I'm not sure I could've kept up that study pace over an extended 10 week window though – best of luck to you!

    FAR - PASSED 11/2009 - EXPIRED, PASSED 11/2012
    REG - PASSED 1/2011 - EXPIRED, PASSED 11/2012
    AUD - PASSED 5/2011
    BEC - PASSED 11/2011
    ETHICS - PASSED 12/2012
