I need 7 more units to be eligible to sit for the exam and I have a few options at the CC.

Auditing-3 units

SOX Compliance-3 units

Intermediate Taxation-Corporations-2 units

Intermediate Taxation-Partnerships-2 units

Quickbooks-3.5 units

Cost Acc-3 units

I was thinking about taking the Auditing and 2 Tax Classes. Thoughts on considering substituting one over the other? The Auditing and SOX classes are at different schools but the description seems like very similar classes. All are 200 level courses and I was going to take them for credit/no credit which acceptable in my state (CA). I have already taken a 300 level Cost Accounting class and was wondering if I take this 200 level course at a different school would be acceptable.

If you want to take the courses specifically to help you with the CPA exam, I'd say the Auditing and 2 tax classes would definitely be the most helpful. Cost accounting is only a relatively small portion of BEC, and BEC really only covers cost accounting at a pretty superficial level. On the other hand, auditing is a full exam and the 2 tax classes will cover a good portion of the tax test.

I think Audit and Tax will benefit you as well. Just a word of caution, don't expect the classes to cut down on your study time. I just finished taking a tax class to complete my license requirements. I took it while studying for REG and it was tough to do both. I pushed my date for REG back two weeks later than I had planned because of the class. But by all means, take something that will at least contribute to what you will need to study.

take auditing and tax. my next choice would be cost, then sox then quickbooks. once you are done, the quickbooks class might be very useful.
