Hi guys, so I am retaking FAR on July 9 and am hopeful I will pass this time. Then, I have 7 weeks to study for REG, my last section. If I don’t pass both sections by August 31, I lose my AUD credit. So, is 7 weeks enough time to study? I won’t be working full time, probably just part time. Or should I just wait on my FAR score and decide what to do next and lose my AUD credit?

I was working full time and was able to manage a 75 in just under 4 weeks last window. It was not fun, but it was possible. You can do this!

    FAR - 79
    BEC - 72, 79
    REG - 75
    AUD - 84

I'm currently studying REG, it took me 4 weeks to get through the Becker material (2 chapters/week). I have 5 weeks until I take the test and plan on reworking everything, and I feel pretty comfortable with my progress so far. I think 7 weeks is doable.

7 weeks while working part time is more than enough time

    AUD - 83
    REG - 78
    FAR - 69,73,79
    BEC - 85

I studied for REG for about 3 weeks and passed with an 81, so I think it's definitely possible to pass with 7 weeks of preparation. I was also working full-time, so I only studied around 3-3.5 hours each evening. I credit the NINJA MCQs with my pass, as they were my main source of study material along with the NINJA Notes as my reading material.

I think it is possible too, I just am a little worried because Tax is a weak area for me. I'm thinking about taking a live Becker class. I just don't know if watching the lectures will be enough to learn the material.

@Amandilee–Please tell me your strategy. I have gone through all the Ninja MCQ once and taken notes and added them to the Ninja Notes. I have 3 weeks left. I had pretty much accepted the fact that I wasn't going to pass, but I would still give it my all until I sit on 07/19. What did you do?

Seriously, how is it even possible to work full time and still manage to understand AND pass the exams in 3 weeks? i'm guessing no review whatsoever, just going through the book and questions once, IF that?please enlighten us amandilee..

I'm in a similar position as the OP. taking FAR on July 19th but I have REG scheduled for August 29th, so a little less than 6 weeks to study for REG. You think it's possible? i work full-time

    FAR - 81
    REG - 74, 87
    AUD - 88
    BEC - 88

    Finally.

@Tootsie – I don't know where you would be taking the Becker classes, but when I took them live, it was a waste of time. Last summer I signed up for live classes, went 8 hours each Saturday, before Saturday came I watched the online videos. The live teachers were worse than the online videos. I couldn't believe I wasted my time (45 minute one way commute) to listen to less information than what was in the online videos. You do get access to a live person, so do 10+ other students who are all at different learning levels. I believe through the online you get an assigned sponsor you can e-mail too. Unless someone recommended the Becker instructors in your area, I would just blast through the videos, getting the notes or just read the chapters and if a page doesn't make sense go to that part of the online lecture and listen to what they have to say about it, then hit MCQs like it's your job.

Honestly, I walked into REG feeling very nervous because I actually didn't even make it through all of the NINJA MCQs. I only managed around 500 or so before the exam and more than a few of them were repeat MCQs. For each MCQ that I did do, I read through the explanations and literature provided and added tidbits of info from those to the NINJA Notes. I also went over the NINJA Notes enough times to have them nearly memorized, which was very helpful as I think there's nearly enough material in those alone to pass. I wouldn't be comfortable using just them, but they were an outstanding source of information for REG for me.

I also have the Roger books and lectures, and I did refer to a few pages in Roger for AMT because I wasn't quite getting it from the NINJA Notes and no questions popped up for it in the MCQs, but I actually think I learned a bit too much about AMT from those pages for the purposes of actually taking the exam.

For me, I just think the combination of NINJA Notes/MCQs is an efficient and effective way to learn just the right amount of information needed for a pass. I spent 2.5 weeks preparing for BEC, which had significantly less material, and actually went through the majority of the Roger lectures and book along with doing 600+ MCQs in the WTB and I felt much less comfortable with that exam and barely managed a pass. I don't know how much of my exam experience so far has been focusing on the right material or just plain luck, but I'm thinking I'll know for certain after AUD on July 10th since I'm using the NINJA Notes and MCQs as my main study material again. I'm supplementing with the Wiley Focus Notes this time since most of the AUD material is completely new to me and they actually seem to be a good source of info, as well.

@Mamabear, I would think you have nothing to worry about after going through all of the NINJA MCQs, especially with the adaptive learning phase. The REG NINJA MCQs were much more similar to the actual exam than the BEC WTB MCQs were to that exam and I can't imagine using a different test bank to study with now.

@kpb, I did go over the NINJA Notes and my added info from the MCQs multiple times, but other than the repeated MCQs I got I didn't have a chance to really do a review phase through those. All of the material I did learn was spot on with the actual exam, though, so it worked out fine for me. I also tend to be more of a sprint learner than a marathon learner and don't retain much info past 4 weeks, so I've tried to prepare for my exams with that time frame in mind. I'm not sure how realistic that will be once I get to FAR, but I'm going to try to make it work!

I don't understand how to use the adaptive learning phase of the Ninja MCQ. I customize my quizzes and pick the option to look at the ones I got wrong the last time I saw them. Is that what you are talking about?
