Hey gang! Advice would be great…here’s the scoop.

    1) I have yet to pass any parts of the CPA exam. I work at a small firm and get a ton of responsibility, and because of that I have yet to pass any parts even after having taken REG TWICE!!! Essentially I haven’t had the time to study

    2) Now that busy season is over for me, I want to try and study for a new part and maybe take it at the end of November. I’m going to sign up for Becker as well (hopefully that helps me to improve my score! Currently I’ve been using hand-me-down books and the Wiley CPA test bank)

    3) Any suggestions? Should I try REG again? (last time I scored a 60). Should I try BEC? or AUD? FAR?

    Thanks!!!

If you allow yourself to believe you don't have time to study, it will be a self fulfilling prophecy. Of course you have the time to study, the question is are you using it appropriately?

Yes I understand you may be working 60-80 hours per week. My point is that it is mind over matter. I too could have believed I had no time to study, but I chose to believe otherwise and now have my license.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

If the Reg material is still fresh in your mind, I would suggest trying Reg again. You're gonna have to pass it eventually.

I agree with MLA. This is something you HAVE to make time for. I use a modified ELL Plan that Jeff came up with. I always study for my lunch break, and at least 1 hour at night, which can be difficult with 2 kids. I have a schedule to be able to study after work that goes like this: 1) Pick up kids 2) cook dinner asap 3) Fuel the Body 4) Bath kids 5) Everyone but me in bed by 8 p.m. 6) Study a minimum of 1 hour!

My review week is full on ELL plan, and I send everyone out to study on the weekends. Commitment is a choice. If you are married with children, time management is your most valuable asset along with dedication. If you are single, stop being lazy and get it done.

    CPA EXAM: DONE!!!!
    Ethics Course: Passed
    Application Mailed: 3/16/15
    Professional Conduct Exam: 97
    Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!
