Last Chance CPAParticipantI am spending way too much time on these exams. We are also expecting 🙂
I spent 6 months on FAR the first time around, and 5 weeks on AUD – both way too long in my opinion (failed both).
If I pass FAR this time around, after studying for 12 weeks, I will speed up my other exams….
This would be my schedule:
FAR – 12 weeks (Aug – Nov)
REG – 8 weeks (Nov – Jan)
AUD – 4 weeks (Jan – Feb)
BEC – 4 weeks (Feb)
Of course, if I fail any section, it will throw off my entire schedule…which I probably will – ha!!!
But anyone ever do 3 in one???
FAR - 76
AUD - 75
BEC - 75
REG - 76Now I need some experience!!! And some networking...

tough_kittyMemberAmbitious plan! I guess it depends on how much time you have to study….If I studied 5-6 hrs a day, I could have prepared for BEC in 2 weeks, but I chose to have some time off as well….so everything is possible…..the key is to have a plan AND stick to it!
BTW, Congrats on your baby! And if you are expecting during that testing window, I'd probably not do it…..but I have a friend who studied for CPA exam with Wiley textbooks ONLY and she took 2 parts while she was pregnant – each time with a different baby!…..and she passed!!!
Also, I'd agree – giving yourself too much time to study isn't good either….I gave myself 7 weeks for AUD because I changed jobs and I pretty much took the last 3 weeks off (from studying)……now gotta re-learn everything……..
FAR: 81 (May 2013)
BEC: 81 (July 2013)
REG: 83 (August 2013)
AUD: 82 (November 2013)

W_HAMILTONMemberI just finished a similar schedule to yours, except I studied about six weeks for REG (mid-June – July) and two weeks each for BEC (first half of August) and AUD (second half of August). It's definitely doable given that BEC and AUD usually have the least amount of material to study for.
I would probably recommend putting off AUD till last since you can probably get away with skimping on studying for it more than you can missing out on any of the BEC material; even though you said you failed AUD once, hopefully if you came close enough to passing, just going over the material again and focusing on your strong points should be enough to push you over the hump.
I don't know what study materials you are using, but unless you are a horrible writer, I wouldn't spend much time on the written communications section of BEC (e.g., don't go and do all the written communications simulations in Becker). Learn a typical format and read through some examples of how they should look, but I wouldn't waste time doing each individual simulation. I would do them when you do your practice Final Exam as a means of timing yourself, though.
REG - 93 (7/30/13)
BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
FAR - 84 (10/19/13)October 15, 2013 at 9:06 am #459325

FAR - 84 (10/19/13)October 15, 2013 at 4:44 pm #459193I took three exams in the last testing window and went 2 for 3 on them. The studying was heinous, and one of the exams did not end up in a pass, but it was well worth while getting at least two of them out of the way. If you can suck it up and just study, I'd do it.
B - (08/29/2013) Passed
A - (07/02/2013) Passed
R - (10/17/2013) 73 - Rematch

Last Chance CPAParticipantThanks for the insight all!
BTW – My wife is the one expecting 🙂 ….in May.
Also, I travel for work and am in a hotel 3 nights a week.
I want to get as many exams out of the way as possible.
@BARF – I think if I fail a section, I am ok retaking it. I think more than 8 weeks for a section is too much time.
@Hamilton – I am using CPAExcel. I failed AUD with a 71 (with no Audit classroom or work exp), so I think I can pass it next time around. I have an MBA, and I work in IT, so BEC should be manageable. I also write good (lol), so written communication should not be a problem. I am only worried about Cost Acctg.
@Tmac – I don't know much about REG either….folks say it's tough….
But again, it all depends on FAR. If I can pass FAR, I can pass any exam I think.
I need to improve FAR by 15 points (60) and AUD by 4 points (71)…REG and BEC will be brand new…
FAR - 76
AUD - 75
BEC - 75
REG - 76Now I need some experience!!! And some networking...

TncincyParticipantI would go for 3 in 1 if I had a black out month to study for one. I am in a similar dilemma but I have not done well staying on track studying. But time is passing so down to business for any part. I certainly agree with getting it done once or twice and for all.
It begins with a 75

AnonymousInactiveAnyone have advice on taking FAR and AUD in the same month after Christmas?. I am pretty confident that I can pass FAR and have worked the Final Exams multiple times. Auditing is just such a short section( and my strongest) and I actually really enjoy studying for it and am also confident I can pass within a short time frame after FAR. Anyone doing this or have advice/input towards this? Shoot away,,

AnonymousInactiveI took 3 in one window, but I'd just graduated college and didn't start work till October, plus no family to worry about =D. In all honesty since I had so much time on my hands, I thought I actually spent too long on a couple sections. 3 in one window is tough mainly because you may get burned out……you have to stick to your study plan every single day. I slacked off every now and again because I had nothing to worry about except studying. With a family and job that will certainly be tough, but if you think you can pull it off go for it!
