    Hello ppl,

I am in a really crazy situation here. I became eligible to write the CPA exams only in Jan and now I just got to know that my husband got into one of the MBA programs he’d been trying for and we’ll be leaving the country this July end. It’s already April and that means I just have exactly 3 more months to get done with the CPA thingy.

I have already finished writing the BEC section (don’t know my scores yet though) but still have the remaining 3 to go(assuming I passed BEC else I’ll have 4). I am not working currently and so have the entire 3 months to my disposal. I’ll be having a few guests coming over in these three months but am not really bothered about that so much.. Academically & professionally.. I have an accounts/finance background..Do you guys think I have enough time to prepare and pass this exam ???… I hope I won’t have to study 10 hours a day everyday… I’m feeling dizzy even thinking about it… appreciate your advice.

It'll definitely be a tight squeeze but since you're not currently working, I think that's a definite possibility. I set aside 6 weeks to study per section but I was working full time during my CPA journey so I think you can do it. If you treat this like a full time job and devote about 4 weeks/section, you have a shot. You could probably prepare for AUD in 3-3.5 weeks since you've already studied for BEC and there is a lot of overlap between the two. With that said, I'd recommend that you study AUD next and try to take it in May (preferably mid-May) and then spend the rest of May and June to really study FAR & REG and take those in July.

If you're not already familiar with it, the Pomodoro Technique can prove to be very valuable in your time management and preparation. (www.pomodorotechnique.com). That's what I used in my sudies and I couldn't recommend it more. Take a deep breath, make a serious plan of attack and stick to it and I think you've got a shot at this.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

It's doable if your background is sufficient. I don't think 10 hour days will be your problem. I'd recommend 12+ hour days, up to 18 hours/day if possible.

    Bec 4/11/11 91
    Aud 7/11/11 75
    Reg 8/31/11 80
    Far 5/24/11 86
    Ethics - 98

Possible, but you better double up on the studying.

I'm sure you know this already, but just keep in mind June is not available for actual testing. You'd have to actually sit for the exams in May or July.

Good luck to you, if you decide to do it!

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 88
    REG - 87
    FAR - 86 - Woot, all done!
    Ethics - 100

If you are not working, motivated (8-10 hours a day of serious studying), and bright it is definitely doable. The June testing window off is definitely a hurdle though. I would probably try to knock off FAR by the end of May. You could then shoot for a July 1st Reg test and Audit is definitely doable in 20 days if you study enough.

    Reg 77 (Aug 11)
    Aud 80 (Nov 11)
    BEC 79 (Jan 12)
    FAR 80 (April 12)

I'd rather dump my gf (bf in this case).

I WISH I could afford not having a job! I'd do all 4 tests in one testing window.

Thanks for your responses/advice everyone…especially Kasia S.. thanks for your advice.

Guess I'm going to give this my best shot and then sit and wait & hope for the best. I've decided to study 10 hrs a day everyday starting today…a little more during the last few days if I can…. May be… just may be, I can make these 3 months the most productive months of my life so far. Guess I better get started then… Best of luck, everyone !! 🙂
