The textbook found on the CPA excel online is very different from the WileyCPAexcel textbook. It contains less material as compared to the WileyCPAexcel textbook which is very detailed and “dry” when reading. If these 2 companies have merged why the difference in contents in relationship to the textbooks. Secondly can I rely solely on CPAexcel and get my passing score without having to read the wileyCPAexcel textbook this question goes to those who passed their CPA exams relying solely on CPAexcel?

Yes, this is correct. I have both boths (for FAR), and vastly prefer the CPAexcel books for the clean layout, clear examples, and constant journal entries.

The Wiley book isn't *that* much more in detail than the CPAexcel book (consider the space taken up by questions and answers, which aren't in the CPAexcel book)…and I think if you prefer to study from it and are therefore more likely to study from it, you should use it instead.

Having both is nice, because the Wiley book is good to reference if I need to, but don't like to use it to study from.

The 2014 Wiley CPAExcel book you have now is basically the CPAExcel book from last year with updates added in. The reason I know this is because I ordered CPAExcel last year and they sent me the 2013 version that had just the CPAExcel logo on the cover (and were blue). Due to some updates in 2014, I ordered the 2014 books (using a promotion they were offering), and after comparing them, they're basically the same.

So just a heads up.
