Currently, I have no experience, and haven’t taken any of the exams. I just passed the enrolled agent exam last week, so tax is still kinda fresh in my head.

I was thinking of taking reg and one other. Maybe audit or bec.

Any recommendations?

Take BEC as that is going to change most in next quarter.

I would attempt BEC because that one is undergoing the most changes… It's a very ambitious goal. If you have plenty of time to study, can be doable.

You have about 10 weeks, if you haven't even started studying for either yet I think its unrealistic to squeeze two in unless you aren't working and have no other committments.

If you're working FT, 4-5 weeks. If you have all the time in the world, 2 weeks (provided you study at least 40-50 hours a week).

@pco2727 if you have the mind for it there is no telling what you could do. Me, 10 weeks, no.

@hasy what a tremendous comeback on REG! I'm sure you're commended a lot for that success. I am impressed and would like some advice. I've been studying for a retake since late November and have 130 hours logged. Just scored a 60 on my practice exam. Any pointers for someone looking to improve their REG score?

if you already passed the EA exam, do REG right away and BEC last week of march. I think 4-5 weeks of REG and 4-5 weeks of BEC is very doable

I think that's the consensus of most of us still testing to get it done before the changes occur. Well we might not get it all done but the major parts from what I have read is BEC and REG…so give it all you can and get a pass. Good luck. i think 4-5 weeks of non stop study is a good deal, as someone else said already.

Hmm. One thing throughout all 4 exams is that I NEVER looked at the amount of hours I've logged for studying. I study until I get the material. I do set an amount of hours I need to study PER day but I don't really keep track of the entirety. Also, that 52 was well-deserved since I didn't really study and skipped several days. The 78 though was mostly through luck. I really did study as much as I could. Finished Roger's and NINJA (besides BLaw), 150+ SIMs. Still got that score (but still grateful I didn't have to take the new format).

I don't like to take practice exams because I don't want to psych myself out. However, one thing I can recommend is to study to understand tax. If you're studying to understand the concepts, it'll be a lot easier. When you receive a wrong answer, dissect that question. Why did you choose the wrong answer? What made you think that LED you to the wrong answer? Alter that thinking so that you will choose the correct answer on the exam. Also, DO EVERY SIM possible. If you understand the concepts, practicing sims WILL NOT take long. Just do it, because you NEED all the practice you can get since the EXAM SIMs are out of this world.
