    Hi All,

First of all, I have been a longtime lurker here and I love reading everyone’s stories. Here is mine. I originally sat in 2010 and passed AUD, BEC,and FAR, but couldn’t pass REG. Due to personal things I let the time expire. Fast forward to this year and I decided to give it a try again. I passed REG in October and just passed BEC (I honestly thought I was going to retake it). I am planning on sitting for AUD next, and then was planning on FAR for the new exam window. My question is…do you think it is possible for me to study and pass both in Q1??? I am pretty confident with AUD and think I would be able to sit in late Jan if i start now. The issue is that leaves only 1 month give or take for FAR review. I don’t know what to do. I need to figure it out this weekend for sure.
The reason was picking FAR for Q2 is because that is the test window where they set the pass score so I am thinking if I do reasonably well, I should be a pass but I would have to wait until August to find out.

Anyone in a similar situation? Sorry for the ramble but this BEC pass just blindsided me today (in the BEST way possible!!) Thanks in advance! Using Yaeger review and Ninja MCQ FYI 🙂

Hmm.. For Roger, AUD is 9 chapters and quite honestly, if I redid it, AUD should take five weeks. More, I might have forgotten things and less, I wouldn't have enough time.

This is with working full-time. There are people who can knock AUD out with less time. But I wanted to make sure that I understood the topic and take it when I was ready. I think I used about almost 7 weeks for AUD and it was too much since I forgot stuff. Give yourself a small break, and use the time NOW to mid-January or late Jan to study. HOWEVER, I think if you're efficient with your time and manage to knock out AUD mid-January, you can dive right into FAR. I know it would be a challenge to finish FAR in 6 weeks but it can be done if you're effective.

It might be a stretch, but finishing the remaining exams by Q1 is still very possible. Good luck.

Thanks, that is good advice! Studying shouldn't be too bad since I have no significant other, or children, and live alone. I do work full time but I manage to study during lunch breaks and when i get the opportunity during the day. I might think about doing it mid-Jan…for some reason AUD has always come easiest for me (knock on wood)!!!!

If you've had any experience in auditing, AUD should be simple (note: not easy). It is the ONLY test where I left the test center that I KNEW that I passed. I'm a single CPA candidate too, I genuinely don't think I could've done when I was with someone. So definitely consider it, it is 3 months, explain to your friends and tell them that you will be more fun afterwards. Also, if you study early on the weekends, like from 9-5, you can have the rest of your day free.

I'm in a similar spot, currently sitting for REG on 1/17 and psyching myself up for FAR on 3/8. Just 15 minutes ago I finished mapping out my FAR study plan (Roger book, Ninja MCQ), and it is a full seven weeks. I figured it would be better to at least *try* to pass FAR before Q2, since I can re-take i. Q2 or early Q3 before losing any exam credit. Worst case, I'm out $275 and best case, I have two more testing windows to re-study and take the new format. Hopefully they are serious about the FAR exam changing the least.

I'm not thrilled about having to start studying FAR before REG is done, but I can stick to the familiar topics for a little while and save “new” material for after my REG test date. I worked as a GL accountant for a while so all those journal entries shouldn't be a problem.

AUD is definitely doable in 4 or 5 weeks, especially if you don't have to overlap AUD and FAR to meet your testing dates.
