Do you think you need a high IQ to pass the new 2017 CPA? AICPA talks about testing higher level thinking. I have checked the forum and people say you don’t need a high iq to pass the older version, but does this still apply to the new format. I should also note that I have a 4.0 and am half way through an MBA from a state school. Is this any indication that I am capable of passing the new CPA exam? Thanks for your time.

Boss – i dont think prometric is involved at all. Ive rolled in in flip flops worn and torn cargo shorts and a pantera t shirt to my reg exam and if anyone was going to grade me down based on apperance they would have surely then.

Idk. Just by reading their terms and policies, it seems like if you don't follow their rules to a T, then they have the authority to manipulate your exam responses or even disqualify you. For example one of the rules is that you should show up 30 minutes before your appointment time, however, if you showed up only 5 or 10 minutes before your exam then they can deduct 5 points from your exam if they wanted. I honestly question their integrity 🙂

Really don't like calling CPA material easy, but the new BEC SIMS can be answered by anyone who puts time in studying.

    At the Test Center
The staff at each test center has been trained in the procedures specific to the Uniform CPA Examination. Center personnel will guide you through the steps that have been developed by the boards of accountancy, NASBA and the AICPA.

    Candidate Misconduct, Cheating, Copyright Infringement
The boards of accountancy, NASBA, and the AICPA take candidate misconduct (including cheating on the Uniform CPA Examination) very seriously. If a board of accountancy determines that a candidate is culpable of misconduct or has cheated, the candidate will be subject to a variety of penalties including, but not limited to, invalidation of grades, disqualification from subsequent examination administrations, and civil and criminal penalties.

It's why I always winked at the kid in my prometric. He figured I was a creepy old lady and didn't want me coming back even one more time than necessary.

    Yes

Something to keep in mind – successfully passing all 4 CPA exams requires much more self motivation than taking college classes.

If studying for the GMAT wasted a year of your time, be prepared for the CPA to waste 2 years or more… Unless you personally value the CPA certification and what it does for you vocationally, it will end up being a waste of your time that you'll wish you had done something different.
