I plan to start studying for BEC next Monday Dec. 5th and I’m trying to decide when to schedule the exam. I have a Becker book (no software) and flashcards (probably won’t use), the Ninja notes, MCQ, and audio. I was thinking that I would study 3 hours a day including on the weekends and give myself 4 days for each chapter. With this schedule I will be finished with the 6 chapters by Dec. 29th. If I do 10 days of review I can test on Saturday Jan. 8th? Should I do a longer review? Less days per chapter? How should I structure the 4 days? Read book, copy notes from book, copy Ninja notes, and then MCQ? I have 1 shot to pass BEC in Q1 before the changes and want to make sure I’m as prepared as I can be to hopefully avoid having to retake after the changes kick in. Any advice is appreciated.

I plan on starting to study for BEC around the 5th as well. I am probably going to schedule my exam for the 14th of January. I haven't used Becker, but my strategy has always been give myself more time for review, as that is when I actually start trying really hard. So I try to give myself around 14-17 days to review. Everybody is different. From what I've heard, 5 weeks is plenty for BEC. Good luck!

In order for you to be ready in a month, then you are gonna have to be a superstar with the material. BEC is a difficult section and it took me a couple months of studying to master the material. One month at 3 hours a day is cutting it extremely close. I think a more sensible plan is to sit for exam mid-to-late January. It's an extra couple weeks and a little more insurance, that could mean the difference between a passing grade and a 73.

I originally thought about taking the exam on the 14th or 20th. But then I thought that 4 days per chapter would be enough since I don't have any lectures to watch and it will mainly be reading and MCQ. My goal is to pass 2 exams before March. I was thinking of doing REG next but have to split the remaining months between the two sections so was aiming to finish BEC earlier in January to allow for the rest of the window to study/test another section. Should I really put more time towards BEC? I heard 100 hours is usually the norm.

How many hours are you planning to study per day? I know it's the quality of the hours that matters not quantity, but I'm curious how you plan to approach BEC. You're past scores are very good. What material are you using?

BEC is no joke, hardest section for me. I originally planned to take my exam on Nov 14th after starting on Oct 1. I pushed that back to Dec 9th. Dont take it lightly and just see for yourself. If you want to take it by mid Jan and you can start studying before the 5th I'd suggest you do so.

The 2nd time I took BEC I walked out feeling pretty confident. I was nailing the CPAExel questions. Got in the high 80's and low 90's on practice exams and ended up with a 72. The first time was a 73. Give yourself time to know the material.

I see that you were sucessful on your BEC retake. I am waiting for dec 8th release but sure I failed since I had guess a lot amount of questions.

What did you do differently for the BEC retake?
How much time did you give urself for your retake?

    For the OP.
I suggest going over many broad topics.
I hit the major topic hard and reviewed the minor ones. This worked for the other 3 exams. But not for BEC

    FAR - 93
    REG - TBD
    BEC -
    AUD -

Do you mind talking about your 2nd BEC experience? You said you felt confident but does that mean the testlets were med / med / med for you? Also how many questions do you think you guessed on along with the sims? Just curious since I took it yesterday and wanted to see how you felt about it

I felt like I didn't have to guess at the MCQ. They weren't easy. I felt like I was prepared. Its hard to say now, but I don't remember really guessing at any. If I did, there weren't many. That is why it was so shocking to me I didn't pass. I haven't felt confident on any of the tests, but I did on this one. My written communication was night and day from first test to the second. This last time were really hard topics, but I've working in accounting for over 2 decades. I wrote the emails like I would any day. Using real world solutions, but maybe that is where I went wrong.

I've been trying to get my mind reset. I went back to studying for REG and have it next week and then will get NINJA for BEC and just start the process from the beginning.

I'll save you a headache. There are really 5 chapters to focus on. (Even 4 for some). B1-B4 are vital to know, B5 is a hit or miss, and B6 doesn't require you yo go crazy over. BEC can definitely be done in 4 weeks. I never advise anyone to take longer than 5 weeks max for BEC because you will start going crazy since it is not much material. Don't get me wrong, BEC was the most frustrating to study for because it is all over the place, but it is also quick because you don't have the SIMS to really practice for. If you stick to 2 sections a week, you will be fine.

    Pete,
Which section would have had IT in it? I felt like I had a much higher amount of those than the typical statistics say would be.

I just passed BEC on my second attempt, my first attempt I got a 73 without doing any of the written responses (ran out of time). My advice is read the becker book, make detailed flash cards from the book by chapter. Then memorize the flashcards by chapter. Once they are roughly memorized buy ninja mc and just keep hammering those and you will pass. My flashcards are really helpful if there was a way I could send them to you I would. This method works trust me. I would focus on all chapters. I had a lot of economic questions on mine. Don't stress about the IT sections too much, its very important but its impossible to cover everything that could be on the test. Gain basic knowledge and use your best judgement come exam time. Focus on areas that Becker covers well (chapters1,2,3,5,6). Also I didn't look at a single WR question while studying.
