I was having trouble passing REG. I was scoring 85-95 on my Becker progress tests for over a year, so I didn’t understand why I couldn’t pass.
Something else put me over the top this time, increased my score from a 67 to an 84:
Over 20 days,
1 – I watched all of the Becker lectures again and after each video did all of the multiple choice until I got them all right.
2 – I finally bit the bullet and purchased the Wiley test bank. I did a round of questions after Becker every night including at least 20 MC and 3 Sims.
3 – I also bought the Ninja notes, hole punched them out the right hand side and put them in a binder. I rewrote the entire thing in the last 48 hours before the test.
4 – In those same 48 hours I completed (and repeated) all of the Wiley sims until I could basically do them all without getting them wrong.
5 – Instead of picking up my IPhone to go on Facebook or play a game, I went to CPAReviewforFree.com and did a 20 question test before I allowed myself to do anything else.
6 – I took a few days off from work before the test. I work full time at a CPA firm (that is basically like having two jobs ;)) and I have a small child who was born right in the middle of this journey to be a CPA. I needed the few days of just studying to absorb everything one last time before the exam. Plus I had to make up the night I skipped studying to be in the Garden when the Bruins raised the championship banner!
I was discouraged and thought I was never going to pass when in reality all I needed was time and supplemental study material. I hope letting you know what I did can help those in similar situations.
