Hi all, I’m hoping to get some advice and studying suggestions from those who have used Yaeger’s Homestudy CPA Review course, but specifically people who have used it for FAR 2011 after July 2011 (with the updates).

I received my package late last week, and the memo mentioned to download the FAR 2011 handouts and also provided links to the FAR 2011 Update for those changes in effect after July 2011. My biggest question is, how are we suppose to use this update video?

It sounds like the memo wanted us to watch the FAR 2011 Update video first (part 1 & part 2), BEFORE even starting the first dvd? Is this the correct way to do it?

I tried watching both part 1 and part 2 of the FAR update video before the 1st Dvd and there was so much information thrown out to me that I’m feeling quite overwhelmed. Cindy went over the 5 CSO Reference changes and then started going through all the different modules in the wiley textbook. So much information flew by that I had to get my notebook and pause after each sentence so I could write them down.

Am I suppose to go back and study the things Cindy mentioned in these 2 videos before I pop in the very first DVD for module 9a? Or do I watch the first DVD from the beginning and use the notes I created from the update video as a reference / replacement for any material that overlaps.

I’m quite lost at the moment on how we should be doing this, any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

@apbandj, I actually wanted to PM you because I’ve read that your actually on the same path to take FAR in November and started Yaeger a couple weeks beforehand and wanted to ask you your method / system of studying, but there’s no PM function here haha, I hope you catch this thread.

The biggest change that was effective in July is the update to the conceptual framework. I would definitely recommend watching the portion of Cindy's update video which covers that prior to watching the lecture for Module 9.A. It's at the very beginning of the video, so once you get through that part I think you could stop until you have watched all the other modules. The other updates are pretty minor and, in most cases, just enhance material that was already taught. Nothing else completely changed like the conceptual framework did. A lot of the MCQ's in the book and in the Wiley online test bank for Module 9.A are now irrelevant b/c they are related to the old framework.
