What are some of the scores that people have gotten who have been placed in "Wave 2a"? I am in Ca and have not gotten my score for Aud. Was curious if some people who get their score late still score well into the 80s and 90s. Any info about this besides that score are typically between 72 and 78 would be helpful.

Coworker had to wait for 2a and got a 94 in a previous window, so I think its safe to say no one knows for sure what it means. According to this site, the wait is a week, but it seems like every release there has been a few hundred to a few thousand released the following day. Are these wave 2a scores, or are those just "the rest" of wave 2?

Il_CPA, The scores that were posted today were normal wave 2 scores. Are you in wave 2a for Aud? Ya I am not sure how they come to the conclusion that 2a must be 72 – 78 when there are scores like a 94 that you mentioned. Sample size on this site must be too small to predict that. I would guess that wave 2a might all have common simulation that needs a further look at. Anyway, sucks to have to wait more.

I too fall in the wave 2a for audit. Have been looking at Jeff's info. In previous releases, 7000+ scores are releases in day 1 followed by 600 a few days later and another few hundred another couple days later.

There was also the interview with AICPA and in short the delay is due to more rechecking of the exam simulations. So there is credibility that 2a consist of the more borderline cases. It makes sense too. If you have 94 you probbaly would not care if you actually got 96 or 92. But for the borderline folks, 72 or 75 brings a whole new world. So the delay makes perfect sense.

As for the co worker with 94 in Wave 2a, that might be an aberration and delay is due to state board snafu etc.

Best way to check is to ask for the grades of those that got their scores in Wave 2. Jeff would put together a poll and if we only see scores outside the 72 to 77 borderline zone for the Wave 2 folks then we will know.

Also ask scores for folks in Wave 2a. If they are borderline …….

To qualify as Wave 2a must it be 5 working days. Does next day releases qualify?

From Jeff's interview: There are several possible reasons why some scores are released faster than others. IF psychometric analysis is required, for example, the scores of all candidates who took a articular examination version – whether passing, failing or on the brink – are held until the analysis is completed. For those who took AUD, FAR or REG, the "second reads" of written communication responses may also be a factor. "Second reads" are additional reviews of essays for candidates whose scores are close to passing…..

"However, for those who wish to tackle the technical, a wealth of information is readily available on the Internet about Item Response Theory (IRT), the psychometric model that is THE BASIS of CPA exam scoring."

This is contradictory. Above it says it might be used(it referring to psychometric scoring), then it goes on to imply that is is assumed to be used.

Tommy H – based on the above, your right if it is due to written commun

I've seen enough Wave 2.5s that the majority of the scores that released are 72-78. There's always a few outliers, though.

Thanks for the confirmation. Another question.

Are ALL score releases after the first bulk release considered 2.5? Does it mean that the release #2 (below), even if it were just the next working day would be considered 2.5. Am confused as you had mentioned a time frame of 5 working days.

    I checked your figures:

?Actual AUD AICPA release #1 (7157 scores): Friday August 21

?Actual AUD AICPA release #2 (676 scores): Monday August 24

    Thanks for this site.

Interesting. I scored a 77 on FAR and a 78 on AUD and I was in the first batch. CPA scoring is so confusing to me
