    Congrats WI-CPAsoon.

The great thing is that you're done. The crappy thing about people passing is that they leave 🙂

Best wishes to you in the future. You've been a great poster.

Thank you Jeff. I am very glad I found this web site! Maybe you should hire some of us on. I am not sure what, if any career move I should make now. I currently do accounting for four small businesses, but they don't really have a use for a cpa. I took the exams because I knew the economy was slow and I would have some time off to study.

I was wondering if you had any suggestions for me.

Thank you very much for this web site Jeff!

Once you get licensed, you can start you own business and take what you currently do now and do it on your own in your own shop.

Your CPA designation will make you legit. Sure – mom and pop's mechanic shop don't care about you being a CPA, but it adds credibility to a lot of people.

I used to have 15-20 small business clients when I worked in public accounting. Most couldn't care less about any designation – they just wanted to know how much they owed the government.

But some actually did care that I knew my stuff.

Your CPA designation will open doors that were previously closed.

It will be an asset that you will have for the rest of your life.

Man, I'd love to go off on my own. Really tired of working for other people. There's just a little problem, I don't have any clients, and I have no clue how to come by any, so I'll most likely be working for the Man the rest of my life.

Oh well, maybe with a CPA, I can at least minimize the *number* of people I have to work for…..

Well – can you do a set of books? Can you do taxes? Can you walk into a small business and say “how would you like to save money on all of your accounting services?”

    BOOM. You're off.

I'm considering doing that myself in 2010.

OK OK I have to post too…. I'm constantly trying to ebb the flow of my pee from all the built up excitement!!!! I took 3 parts of the exam during the Oct/Nov window (REG, FAR and AUD) but I only received my REG score back. That means if I get both FAR and AUD to come back positive, I'm in the green! I'm an auditor for a public accounting firm so I felt pretty confident about the audit test, and FAR was a retest from a 74, so I'm starting to sense that light from the end of the tunnel. No way I could have rebounded without this site… no way. Today is December 1st, the final countdown begins!

“May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows”

    BEC 75 - REG 74, 88 - FAR 74,89 - AUD 92

    DONE FOREVER

PackerBacker- I'm in the same boat as you. I took AUD yesterday and if I pass it will be my last! I started in July and hope to be completely done by the first of the year! Not sure that I'll pee my pants in excitement, but will definitely be jumping for joy and screaming if I see “PASS” on my score letter. 🙂

Good luck to you! And here's hoping you have lots of fun this month to keep your mind off score release updates. 🙂

Yes on the first two. No on the last one, unfortunately. I wouldn't be able to sell hand warmers in Greenland, much less accounting services to local businesses. It's nice to know I will have the certification and know-how, but I would be awful on the actual business development end of things.

Maybe I can partner with an already-established CPA. I'd like a job with more flexibility (except around tax time, I know), more ability to direct my own affairs. Being a corporate cheerleader who has to deal with board meetings, audits, budgets, and a petulant CEO is starting to wear on me. I didn't bother with the CPA exam for more of that, at least I hope that I didn't.

waiting VERY impatiently even though I only took my last section (FAR) last week-I'm hoping I don't get news that ruins my Christmas! Brutal exam! I usually run around the office screaming and hugging people when I get good news. I shudder to think what will happen if I get a bad score!

I am waiting for my last score as well. The last time I was waiting for my last score, I received bad news… 72. I am SO hoping this time will be different, but who knows? Each test is so different. GL to everyone, and I hope I'm not jinxing myself by posting to this thread again.
