KasiaSParticipantSince today is the last day of the testing window, how are you all planning on killing time until scores are released next week?
Since REG was my last section, I’m getting caught up on TV shows I’ve been missing since May and reading until my eyes burn! Seriously, I started reading “The Hunger Games” and I CANNOT put it down!
I also discovered just how out of touch I’ve been with the world… I just found out that FOX cancelled Lie To Me back in May. (Those bastards!). I wonder what else I’ve missed in the last six months lol

yankeeaccountantParticipantI had an argument similar to yours with my hubby this summer; about my prioritzing the CPA exam over our marriage. We really don't talk about the exam much anymore, it is kinda like a 4 letter word (yes, exam is a four letter word, but you know what I mean ๐
It is hard enough going through this process, then add a dollop of marital discord and –yikes—things are gnarly to say the least. I can empathize with you. I was so upset on my failing REG on Monday because I know that it won't help our situation, and I hate to see it get worse.
I really hope things settle down for you soon.

AnonymousInactiveWhen I'm done, I am going to play football catch with my six-year-old son. He says all the time, dad why do you study so much, you're all ready smart. Damn exam, but it' s worth proving I can do this. If I can pass Bec, the rest is doable.

iPassMember@yankee,
I'm so glad to hear that you are staying positive, pampering always works wonders! I took advantage of a few “days off” between AUD and FAR and got my nails done (finally, lol). But back to studying since Monday, don't have too much time to relax, FAR is next.
OMG, how are you handling a CPA in the house?!
BEC - 10/12/2011 - 78
AUD - 11/23/2011 - 84
FAR - 02/22/2012 - 76 (I'll take it!)

LauraParticipantIt's difficult considering he passed his exams with high scores… I'm not mad at him for passing, just wish i could have taken this exam fresh out of college like he did…instead i had to get more hours for the 150 requirement and then I had to get the board to approve my additional hours since they were taken at a community college. When it was all said and done I didn't start this process until 4 years after I graduated. And yes he did take it while I was on hiatus from taking the exam…I'm damn proud of him. And also a weeeeeeeeeeeeeee bit jealous…

iPassMemberI can only imagine how hard could it be, but I'm sure you are more proud of him than jealous ๐
Is there any chance he could tutor you a bit? I guess not if he's working those crazy hours as most CPAs do…
I was thinking about your weaker areas… I honestly don't think that there's a way to dramatically improve your knowledge/understanding of Corporate Governance, and it's not about you, it's about the obscure way the AICPA is testing this subject. But with the other two, Financial Management and Strategic Planning, with a little effort you can totally rock BEC! If I could be of any help, please let me know. I wouldn't mind going over some questions/problems with you.

iPassMember@Kasia,
Have you tried Zumba or P90X before of this is your first time? Don't know about Zumba, but P90X really works! It's not easy, and I wasn't doing it 100%, was mixing up with Turbo Jam or simple cardio workout at the gym. But I definitely saw the results. I can't really do much besides some light cardio these days, with my baby bump, but come spring and those P90X and Turbo Jam DVDs will be playing nonstop ๐

SherridMember@ yankee accountant- I'm so sorry to hear about your Reg score I know how it feels. I haven't passed one of these tests on the first try. When I took Reg for the 3rd time I thought I had failed in fact I was so depressed about it I stopped studying for a week but when I got my score (two months later) I had passed with an 81, I was so shocked. Just be careful in reading the question, there was one that was particularly tricky – initially I answered it right away but then I went back and reread the question and my answer didn't relate to what they were actually asking (sneaky b*st*rd's). So what I do now is to read the last line of each question first and then read the entire question so I have an idea of what the answer relates to.
@keeptrying- I'm so sorry about your BEC score- for me BEC was the hardest- the damn thing! I honestly don't know how many times I've sat for it (it's embarrassing) and what makes it worse (for me) is when family and friends ask how I did…the time before last I got a 74 and was stupid enough to pay the $150 to have it rescored; that was a waste of my money. I used Becker and then ending up paying for a two months subscription to Gleim for their test bank which I think helped alot. Also Becker is right about the written communication- on two of mine I didn't know the subject matter so I basically wrote BS but it was well constructed with no grammatical errors and I made sure to address the topic- entered the key words in my response (although what I wrote was not correct) I was concerned because of this but apparently if you score enough points on the MCQ's the written response is graded by the computer(if an examiner actually read what I wrote I don't think I would have passed) like I said I was clueless but I did address the topic and it was well written. I finally passed and so can you. I had lost my Aud credit due to this but I got it back since I have audit experience it was easier for me. I sat for FAR on the last day of the testing window but I don't hold out to much hope- one of the sims was particularly difficult and I knew the information – in fact I wrote out all the answers but the way the spreadsheet was formatted I couldn't enter it – weird I know- I entered the correct amount in the bottom tab and I'm hoping I'll get partial credit but I'm not sure how they grade the sims. Good luck to you- you can do it!

AnonymousInactiveAfter taking the exam on the 29th, I have decided to take a two week break from studying and pay attention to my partner and pets. I don't think my dog or cat remember who I am (or my partner for that matter). This will give me about 6 weeks to study for the next part. <sigh>
I totally empathize with the discord that the exam can bring. My partner is always mad at me for ignoring him or not spending time with him when I'm studying. He understands what I'm working for, but he's disabled, homebound and doesn't get a lot of visitors during the day. So when I come home and start studying he feels even lonlier. Poor guy.

KasiaSParticipant@Peanut, I'm addicted to The Hunger Games! I'm almost done with Part 1 of Book 2 and I'm already emotionally drained. I go through so many emotions while reading it. My stomach was in knots while I was reading it on the train ride in…
@iPass, I've tried both programs before but never finished. Before I started my CPA studies, I finished Phase 1 of P90X and lost about 12 pounds and had pretty great results. Then I injured myself because I got too ambitious with my running and stopped. Since then I've used the CPA as an excuse not to throw the DVDs in.
This Sept, my gym was offering free Zumba classes, so I decided to give it a shot and I fell in love. I had put on 10 pounds studying for FAR and BEC by that time and I managed to sweat off 4 pounds in 3 weeks just by taking the class twice a week. When they said they were going to start charging $10 per class, I decided to ditch the gym and bought the DVD set and I love it.
Now the plan is to do only Zumba during December to build up my cardio strength and burn some fat. Once I'm in better shape, I'll take on P90X and this time I'll graduate! ๐ ….Unless I fail REG, then I'll start P90X after I pass. By body can only take so much torture.
