Hi all,
I passed my final CPA exam section in November, and since I received that score I have been trying to reach someone at the Wisconsin licensing board about the experience requirement (1 year).
I work in academia, and I wanted to verify that this experience will count toward the experience requirement. Unfortunately, I can’t get a real person on the phone, and no one ever calls me back. The law states that positions in academia count if they are at the intermediate, advanced, or specialized level. I teach accounting courses, including Managerial, Cost, Intermediate, as well as tax courses, etc. I have been working in this field for most of the past decade, and I’m not a traditional exam candidate, I guess.
So, for the experience verfification paperwork, do I need to go back and list other jobs, most of which probably wouldn’t qualify toward the experience requirement. Or, can I just list my academic position, since, if it qualifies, I wouldn’t need the other jobs listed anyway? I’m asking because it will take a considerable effort to get the information from jobs I held long ago. Some were part-time at CPA firms doing audit work, and the board claims they don’t give much weight to part-time jobs.
Help!
