UHY Question

I have a quick question regarding UHY. How does UHY compare to the other major firms (Big 4, Plante Moran, etc.) in terms of salary, benefits, retirement plans, bonuses, vacation time, culture, etc? I was wondering because I may have an opportunity to work for them in an entry-level capacity (audit and tax) really soon. I’m currently working for a smaller accounting firm and I was wondering is it worth leaving my firm for UHY or should I stay put? I started with my firm in October. So I have two months experience where I’m at now (my only public accounting experience). Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

For me the key criteria would be:

Which firm offers a wider variety of clients and assignments

Which firm has a greater market share in the industy that interests you

Is there a good program for mentoring new staff

What kind of stability does each firm offer its employees

After just 2 months I would hesitae to change jobs over a few dollars and some benefits

If you are with a good firm, like the people and the assignments you are currently working on that should count for a lot

    Good luck

Thanks for the advice cpa journey. It really is appreciated.

The main reason that I'm thinking of leaving is because it would be a 50% increase in salary. It would be hard justifying not taking this position with UHY if it gets to the point where there is an offer on the table. At the same time I probably would have a hard time leaving my current job because I really enjoy the people that I work with. All I can do is let the Man upstairs guide me in the right direction.

After 15 years of working, I have finally realized that you can't think about other people when you are looking at your future and your career. I used to be like you. I liked who I worked with. I wouldn't want to disappoint my boss. I didn't want to let my coworkers down by leaving.. but you know what, the company and managers are not worried about you. You have to do what is best for you. Seriously, I am way behind in my career because I stayed at companies too long and passed up some good opportunities..

I realized you have to think about yourself and your family (benefits, pay) when it comes to your career.. not your boss, not your coworkers, nobody else!

I actually live in the Midwest. Thanks for the input!

CPA Someday, I have been thinking the same thing over the last couple of days. It's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one that thinks this way! Thanks for the advice!
