To check my FAR score or Not to check my FAR score that is the question?

I took FAR on 1/24/2015, so my exam score should be coming out either tomorrow or Tuesday, but I’m taking my BEC exam this Saturday (the 28th). I have been having so much anxiety about whether or not I passed FAR that looking at the score when it comes out will give me some closure, but I’m afraid to look at my FAR score when it comes out because it could easily be a failing score and discourage me when I take my BEC exam a few days later. My question is whether or not it would be worth looking at, and if I’m over-thinking this?

    REG-76-11/2013
    AUD-80-2/2014
    FAR-83-1/2015
    BEC-79-2/2015

So glad to have my life back!!!!

How have you reacted to prior failures? If unknown, then I guess you know yourself best. You could use a potential failure to better tackle BEC and a pass can give the same motivation as it can give you confidence.

I'd personally check since the wait would kill me.

You have to make up your mind that even if you didn't pass FAR it's only a bump in the road and won't rattle you. It's easy to ask this question hypothetically when your score isn't a click away, but very few people can actually choose not to check their scores.

Passing a section is great, failing is a bummer but if you can just cowboy up and say you'll deal with whatever comes your way, you'll be in a much better place.

When I took REG I didnt look at my FAR score because I didn't want it to affect my performance on REG. I just wanted to be entirely focused on REG no matter what. I knew the score was there and failing or passing it was not going to change. When I got my REG score and I saw that I passed was great but when I saw that I already had a credit for FAR too was the cherry on top! Especially after a month of receiving the score for FAR.

If you think that it will affect your performance somehow for BEC just dont look until you are done with BEC. The score will be there and wont change no matter what. Success!

I am in the exact same situation. FAR score comes out tomorrow and taking BEC on Thursday. I don't think I will wait and just accept the results. I've waited forever already.

I am also in the exact same situation — took FAR in January 26, taking BEC February 26. Funny how the exams and dates line up for some of us.

Anyway, I thought about not checking, but I am impatient and won't be able to resist. I also don't think it will affect my BEC performance. Yeah, I'll be pissed if I fail again, but I find that I build or lose confidence during the exam based on the questions, not my feelings about other sections.

To all you guys that are scared about checking your scores man just do it. Whether you passed or not is fine, don't get discouraged just focus on the next exam. You all motivate the heck out of me when I see your scores at the bottom of your postings whether you passed or not. Just be proud that you made it that far and keep on going.

One day I will face that exam.

@Allergic2CPA You increased your FAR score by a lot of points..

I think it would be better if you just take bec first and then look at the score!! For me it was really hard to get concentrated in one test while waiting for score. Thats why I took one per window.

That's because I actually didn't really study the first time. I had forgotten that I paid an exam fee. I think I studied a few days to no more than 2 weeks but didn't panic since I knew I wasn't going to pass so I just went for the test taking experience.

Personally, I would 100% wait because I know that if I failed it would psych me out and even if I passed, I might just coast on those feelings of relief and not give studying my all in the last push to the next exam. This isn't exactly the same situation, but my score for BEC came out on the day before I took REG and I avoided looking until the ride home. For me, no good would have come out of looking.

I did give in enough that I was constantly logging in to the website, but I managed to resist going to the actual score page because I know my limitations. I'd say it worked out for the best (especially since my REG ended up being right on the cusp and I'm pretty sure knowing about BEC would have likely been enough to push me down below passing.)

You know you best, but I'd say if this is even a question maybe just err on the side of caution and don't look.

For me, to check or not to check was a no-win situation. I was unable to relax the whole week and today, when the e-mail showed up, I got a sinking feeling in my stomach but resisted the urge to . I was also shaking when I got home. Since the uncertainty was killing me, I decided to check. Well, my score improved but I still failed FAR. Went on to a progress test for AUD about 15 minutes later.

If you do fail, be careful about who you tell. The mistake was not in checking because the suspense would have had me wound up anyway. It was telling my parents. After finishing my progress test, my dad told me the exam was probably harder for me since I went to a 14 month MBA program vs having a few years to learn in undergraduate. Worst, he told me not to think and worry so much. He was trying to be helpful but just made things worse. I've always been an anxious person and this made me feel helpless. I'm jealous of people who can just let things go.

    REG 79 (1/2016)
    BEC 81 (4/2016)

Ok, posting my two cents here…I was in the same boat. I took FAR on 1/24 and took AUD this morning. I know scores came out 3 days ago, but my rationalization for not checking was that Illinois always seems to take its sweet time, being an Indie state. Anyway, I do not in any way regret my decision to not check until today. Either way, the outcome would have influenced me…but I'm just ecstatic that I can celebrate that I finished one test today and passed another!
